FREE REPUBLIC NETWORK LAUNCHES WEB SITE ON "WINTER SOLDIER INVESTIGATION" AND KERRY SLANDER OF U.S. TROOPS IN VIETNAM
(Washington, DC) The Free Republic Network today announced the unveiling of www.WinterSoldier.com, a new web site to provide news, analysis and research material regarding the false claim by John Kerry and others during the Vietnam era that atrocities were routinely committed by America's military.
In 1971 former Navy Lt. John Kerry testified before the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations about American "war crimes" in Southeast Asia, which he described as "not isolated incidents but crimes committed on a day-to-day basis with the full awareness of officers at all levels of command". Free Republic Network Director Scott Swett released the following statement:
"John Kerry played a key role in the leftist disinformation campaign that undermined support for the war by slandering a generation of American soldiers as mass murderers of civilians. Kerry testified before the Senate that the United States committed war crimes in Vietnam as a matter of military policy, citing claims of atrocities made at the discredited 'Winter Soldier Investigation' -- an event primarily funded by Jane Fonda."
"The truth is that atrocities were the exception in Vietnam, not the rule."
"Since Senator Kerry has made the strength of his military record a key issue in his pursuit of the Presidency, it is important for voters to have access to a more complete picture of his actions than is available from the Kerry campaign or the media. WinterSoldier.com will document and analyze the activities in which Kerry and others participated during the Vietnam era."
The site features a section on Kerry's hard-to-find 1971 book "The New Soldier" and covers the activities of the group Vietnam Veterans Against the War and its sponsors. New information will be added as it becomes available. Readers are invited to provide feedback, submit editorial pieces, and provide relevant material. The site will go live on Monday, February 23, 2004.
The Free Republic Network www.FreeRepublic.net is a 501(c)(4) public service corporation whose mission is to organize, train and support conservative activists nationwide. It provides information and organizational services to more than 50 regional and issue-based chapters around the country, and serves as the activism arm of the Free Republic Forum www.FreeRepublic.com.

Fondaboy was militantly antiwar as Speaker of the Yale Political Union before he ever saw the inside of a uniform. He asked his draft board to extend his student deferment to allow him to attempt to wait out the war in grad school for "necessary grad work" and his draft board disagreed with that "necessity" and so, like most who were advised that the Navy was safer and you got to take showers and got three square meals a day, Fondaboy enlisted in the Navy (no knock on naval service) but then found out that you really can be at war in the Navy no matter what the street-corner "wisdom" might have been and he found himself in the truly nasty river war in Vietnam. His track record for good fortune was not impressive. If he didn't have bad luck, he would have had no luck at all. Then to extend his nightmare in which he might be called upon to shoot and kill fellow "progressives in a hurry Viet Cong division," lest they shoot and kill him (not recognizing his own "progressive credentials" since he could not wear a Ho Chi Minh or Jane Fonda patch on his uniform), he was INJURED (!!!!), actually injured even though his father had been ambassador to Switzerland and even though he had graduated a good prep school and even though he was a Yale man!!!!! Nicked three times without losing a moment to medical care, he received purple hearts, a bronze star and a silver star. His commander must have been a preppie too or at least a "progressive in a hurry."
Then John Fonda Kerry's luck turned better. After four months in Nam, he asked for and received an early discharge no more honorable than Dubya's so that Fondaboy could run for Congress. First things first, however, and he got somebody else's medals to throw over the fence at the White House, keeping his own in reserve just in case political lightning might strike thirty + years later. He founded Viet Nam Veterans Against the War to lie about our country, its military and better men than himself and to solicit others to lie with him in the "Winter Soldier" fiasco. Some perjured themselves before Congressional committees for sensationalist anti-American coverage and to guarantee the people of Viet Nam a future of communist slavery, repression, torture and summary firing squads. Joan Baez has apologized for being a dupe and a fool whose efforts led to such results. She asked her antiwar comrades to apologize as well to America and to the people of Viet Nam. She took out full page ads in the New York Times to do so at great expense. Fondaboy kept his mouth shut then to "maintain his political viability" as Slick Willie used to say. His mentor, Hanoi Jane attacked Joan Baez.
John Fondaboy Kerry's unoriginal campaign mantra is ripped off from Dubya: "Bring it on!" Well, Fondaboy, that is exactly what we have begun to do and you have only seen the tip of the iceberg. Fondaboy will experience the entire iceberg when he is safely trapped in the Demonratic nomination. What is going to happen to Lurch shouldn't happen to a human and it won't. If Fondababy is squealing like a stuck pig over the mild material tossed his way so far, he ain't seen nothin' yet! He is going to make his former boss, Michael "Snoopy" Dukakis, look like a competent candidate.
Bump -- GREAT rant.
Party on - Excellent! ;)
I'm not sure you're following this...
The intent of the site is to counter the grotesquely exaggerated claims of atrocities made by Fonda, Kerry, the Vietnam Veterans Against the War and others, with the truth. And the truth is that atrocities did occur, as they occur in all wars, but they were neither widespread nor done as a matter of military policy. Some of the "veterans" who told horror stories at the Fonda / VVAW "Winter Soldier Investigation" never served. Others served but were never assigned to Vietnam -- including members of the VVAW leadership. At least one admitted that his testimony was written for him.
The Winter Soldier propaganda effort trashed the reputations of the overwhelming majority of American servicemen in Vietman, who served honorably. We think it's important for people to know that what John Kerry told the Senate in 1971 was, in fact, a lie.
Check it out... the VVAW minutes Podhoretz mentioned showing that Kerry was at the meeting where the RAW event was planned are posted at WinterSoldier.com, in the documents section.
