State Attorney General Bill Lockyer on Saturday rebuffed Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger's demand that he force an end to San Francisco's same-sex marriages, calling the directive political rhetoric.

"The governor can direct the Highway Patrol. He can direct the next 'Terminator 4' movie if he chooses. But he can't direct the attorney general in the way he's attempted to do," Lockyer said, adding that Schwarzenegger's written directive "was a statement designed for consumption at the Republican convention."

Bill Lockyear should be arrested and jailed.

And if he and the SF mayor (noisome) are not, then the Governor will need to be arrested for the very same reason: failure to uphold the law. The issue now is not homosexual marriage - the people of the state have spoken to that affirming marriage as that union of one man and one woman; the issue now is the rule of existing law and its enforcement. The court should be involved only insofar as they will hear arguments to the charge that the AG, the SF mayor (and perhaps the Governor) have failed to do their duty according to the Constitution of their state.

There are going to be massacred come election day, and deservedly so....This event will serve as their Waterloo.

True! There is, however, the more immediate issue of law-breaking to address.

I love the west coast - the beauty, the forests, mountains, ocean - lived here since the late 60's...

I can relate. I lived there since the early 60's but could take it no longer. I was driven out by the idiocy....taxes, illegals, wacko's...you know! Crossed the state line October 10, 2003 at 7:03AM and have been breathing "fresh air" ever since.

There's nice scenery everywhere. There's also cheaper real estate elsewhere. I can't handle the homo-promoting atmosphere here any more...

Although the "gay" activists are definitely pushing everywhere they can. The battle must be fought and the libertines headed by the homosexual rights people must be stopped, or no place will be safe from Hate Speech laws and Thought Crimes edicts.

Thanks for looking, and your ideas make sense to me- but then the last thing I did was drive a wrecker across south Georgia...

Call Miss M. Morgan on KSFO tomorrow morning.

She will be more than ready to start the ball rolling to recall Lockliar.

California is intended to be the trendsetter for gay marriage, as it is the trendsetter for everything else.

California hasn't been a trendsetter for a long time. They're the state who thinks they are leading but never noticed that nobody is following. Most of the cutting edge people have already moved and those who are left are packing.

Before you leave, lets watch this battle unfold.

The gays would love all of us to leave California and our churches so they can take over.

Fight them, like you have been.

This is the best thing that has happened as the Gay Agenda Pushers have been pushing their agendas since the finding that Gays got AIDS due to their sexual perversion.

Now it is being discussed, and the good moderates will come over to our side on this political issue.

So don't leave yet. (Having said that, where is your property?):)

"This is beyond vile. Is there any legal remedy available for this malfeasance?"

As you probably remember in California there is. The process is referred to as RECALL.

Unfortunately this process is time consuming and expensive for the proponents. By the time the Recall would take effect, the courts will probably have acted.

That sounds like a good plan.

I would think that the Governor would have every legal right to do all of those things.

I haven't heard any more statements from him yet. Another person I haven't heard from is the Archbishop of San Francisco, Levada, but I didn't really expect to hear anything from him anyway, I guess.

Are you glad you moved? I would never move to the Northeast - I am thinking of around southern Indiana or northern Kentucky. Land is cheap, winters aren't too bad, and not near the DC - Boston megalopolis.

I am in the DC area, in Virginia. It isn't an unbearably urban area, and just a few miles south, things get pretty rural. I do computer stuff professionally, which is why I picked this place. The job climate is better than in California, and I find that people are a lot more neighborly, on the whole.

California is what amounts to my ancestral home, we have been there for so many generations. I do get homesick sometimes, just because of that. But, as a raving history buff, I am kind of enthralled by what is here- Mt Vernon is just a few miles away, for example.

When I get my feet under me financially, I am going to consider moving south of here, though...

Liberal democrats don't obey laws that they don't agree with.

They just force everyone else to obey laws that they don't agree with.

I'm suprised Lockyear didn't just come out and say he won't obey the governor because he's a Republican, therefore he shouldn't really be in charge.

I for one, truly hate California democrats.

Thank you for the encouragement. I will email Governor Schwarzenegger again!

governor@governor.ca.gov

As far the Catholic church speaking out, at this time the issue is not whether homosexual marriage should be codified in law. That "moral" issue was already decided by the voters: they voted against it!

The issue now is the enforcement of the existing law by those who have taken oaths to uphold it. That's a legal issue for the Governor, as supreme law enforcement officer of the state, to speak to.

We'll need to "help" the media keep Lockyer's misdeeds in the forefront of the news. Democrats are DEAF on this one and it'll kill them this time. Queer marriage. The ultimate abomination.

No surprise for a CA RAT. I suspected Lockyer would fight the madness in SF as much as he enforces illegal immigation laws.
