You are correct - this puts Kerry and Edwards in a nice tight square box. They are going to be forced to alienate one or the other: their base or the middle.
Edwards will vote against the tax cuts - after all there are two Americas.
The fun for us will be watching Kerry-Edwards voting and then explaining why they voted the exact opposite of the way they promised they would vote. (Mush as they do now!)

Edwards won't be the VP candidate with Kerry. Hillary won't allow it. She does not want the VP candidate on the losing ticket to shine; this person becomes the leading contender for president 4 years later.
The Clintons will insist on a loser on the bottom of the ticket, like Wesley Clark or Richard Gephardt.

You really live up to your name!!! And that was my first thought too. Not that the Clintons are behind Nader's run...but they probably like the idea, and have encouraged it. All this good press Kerry is getting, Edwards coming on strong, the Clintons have got to cover all bases just in case.
I remember right after the 2000 election, Nader opened a big office in DC., big and impressive, they were hiring many people, maybe this last run for Nader was inevitable all along. I haven't heard Nader speak out on the war, but I wouldn't be surprised at all to have Dean, Sharpton, and Kucinich throw their support to Nader. They seem like natural allies don't they?

I'm starting to think that Nader is really a Republican in disguise! And I've never been one of those conspiracy types.... :-)

By writing Kerry-Edwards I gave the wrong impression I did not mean Edwards would be the VP candidate.
My firm belief is that a Nader candidacy creates fissures at the Dem convention as they lose voters to him. Should Dean jump in with Nader...well those fissures become fractures.
Who better to set a fracture but Nurse Hillary Ratchet Clinton?

I prefer to refer to them as "DUngers." Good one, and it fits Senator Tom "DUngheap" Harkin perfectly.
