You are correct - this puts Kerry and Edwards in a nice tight square box. They are going to be forced to alienate one or the other: their base or the middle.

Edwards will vote against the tax cuts - after all there are two Americas.

The fun for us will be watching Kerry-Edwards voting and then explaining why they voted the exact opposite of the way they promised they would vote. (Mush as they do now!)

Edwards won't be the VP candidate with Kerry. Hillary won't allow it. She does not want the VP candidate on the losing ticket to shine; this person becomes the leading contender for president 4 years later.

The Clintons will insist on a loser on the bottom of the ticket, like Wesley Clark or Richard Gephardt.
