PROTEST NOTRE DAME HOSTING GAY FILM/VAGINA MONOLOGUES

U. NOTRE DAME HOSTS GAY FILM FESTIVAL
The University of Notre Dame (IN) is hosting the first ND Queer Film Festival, which began yesterday and runs through Saturday. (See www.nd.edu/~lsayre/NDQFF.) Films include Hedwig and the Angry Inch, described as an anatomically incorrect rock odyssey, and Go Fish, a movie about a young lesbian seeking love. Although Notre Dame has refused to recognize a homosexual student club, it has allowed the film festival because it is co-sponsored by an academic department, the Department of Film, Television and Theatre. Funding for the event comes from GALA, an association of homosexual Notre Dame alumni.
To protest, contact: Rev.Edward A. Malloy, C.S.C., President, University of Notre Dame, Notre Dame, IN 46556; Phone: (574) 631-3903; E-mail: malloy.5@nd.edu.
Father Malloy seems unavailable to listen to complaints so the other phone number to call is 574- 631-8051 for Fr. Peter Jarod"s office.

I'll leave the analogy between 'Go Fish' and lesbian love up to your fertile imaginations, folks. LMAO :-)

From Cwnews.com:

Ponder this
The Diocese of Cleveland issues a warning to Catholic parishes that seeing a movie, The Passion of the Christ, which illustrates the events of the Gospels, may lead to the rise of anti-Semitism in churchgoing Catholics. Meanwhile, a local Catholic university allows the production of the "Monologues" on campus with proceeds going to a pro-abortion group. [For more on performances at "Catholic" schools, see the Card. Newman Society.] The diocese's response when told about this immoral play supporting the abortion of babies? "No comment."
Evidently, according to the Diocese of Cleveland, the greater threat to society is a movie about the Crucifixion of Jesus Christ, not a play that promotes ual immorality and the funding of pro-abortion groups.
"Whoever causes one of these little ones who believe (in me) to sin, it would be better for him if a great millstone were put around his neck and he were thrown into the sea." (Mark 9:42)

And why do they still promote themselves as a faith-based institution? The Bible has at least 50 things to say against this that I can think of off-hand.
Is this what Notre Dame wants me to think of if they want my daughter to attend? BARF!

As a USC grad, allow me to observe that I liked ND more when its football team reached the same lofty heights as did its morals. Sadly, both have fallen on lean times.

Fellow SC grad -- I agree completely. The recent letter caling for the football program to put-up or shut-up included the three tenets of Notre Dame -- Catholic identity, academics, and winning football.
They're down to one.

As someone who grew up in SB and is Catholic, I can tell you this is indicitive of the moral decline of Notre Dame. This isn't from zany Leftist students pushing for this empty headed feminism, this from the top. From the brothers of Holy Cross---from the priests themselves. I had a priest from ND at my church who was such an elitist, pompous snob that I would be shocked if you got a response from these most evolved people.

Hamilton,
My alma mater has long since gone past the point where they care what I think. I restrict my protests these days to not contributing to it financially.
Malloy will go down in history as the president who destroyed one of the finest Catholic universities (not to mention football programs) in the country.
Some legacy.
To: Hamilton2
I just don't get it.
Why are the representatives of the Catholic Church allowing this play to be produced on Catholic campuses? Has the Church gone completely secular?
No wonder the morals of this country seem to be in the trash bin when a religious institution gives a "wink n nod" to this type of behavior.

I grew up in South Bend....my dad was a Professor of English 1960-65. I was there when that incredible mosaic went up. I iz very sad, as I am sure you are.

Our bishop wrote an excellent article expressing, in a very pastoral way, his concerns - I'll see if I can find it and post it.

Perusing FREEREPUBLIC I found another related site and learned that Proctor and Gamble is a HUGE backer of V-Day which is the organization that supports the Vagina Monologues.
I have been boycotting Proctor and Gamble since the debacle over Dr Laura but would encourage others to do the same.

AS a former ND student (I left in 1968 after 3 years) I gotta laugh at this. One reason I left: Almost NO females on the Northern Indiana steppes. Now they're coed, so that excuse won't fly.
ND has a long history of this kind of behavior. I remember reading 15 years ago or so that someone on the fast track to replace Teddy H. as president was derailed when his 'counseling' activities were unmasked.
There is an attitude there that it's OK for them to do whatever, since they're the chosen ones. (Another reason I left).
Don't get steamed, fellow posters. Have a good chuckle. Y'know, what goes around...
