February 12, 2004 -- AS a political talent scout, Bill Clinton looks like a bit of a dud right now - and that's just one reason wife Hillary's presidential prospects suddenly look dimmer. No one did more to create the Wesley Clark 2004 boomlet than Bill Clinton, who praised the retired general to the skies as one of the Democratic party's two top "stars" - Hillary was the other one - and encouraged a host of allies to back Clark.

"the Republican base isn't excited. All we have to do is put Hillary on the ticket and we rev up their base and do their work for them"

I agree .. interesting! However, Susan Estrich has been saying this for a couple of years.

and Kerry's Massacide can easily be arranged at a time convenient for Madame Hillary's ambitions.

Well, if nothing else, Clinton is consistent - a consistent loser. His control of the Dem Party has produced consistent losses for the Dems.

I think we might want to consider appointing Billary head of the Democrat Party for Life; they're the best friends the Republicans have got.

The clintons will, of course, continue to sabotage the nominee, which will only flame the party's anti-clinton rage.

I think the clintons are finished.

No, they LOVE the Clintons too much to know better. And that's why the Democrats will keep on facing political disaster.

"In October 1998 Jane Fonda boosters Jane De Hart (UC Santa Barbara), Linda K. Kerber (University of Iowa), Mary Beth Norton (Cornell University) and Vicki Ruiz (Arizona State University) joined more than 400 professors in signing a letter opposing impeachment of President Bill Clinton. Rather than having credentials as experts on the Constitution and impeachment, the four are experts on gender history and women's history." - Richard Rongstad

All the other power-hungry, D politico-egomaniac types actually despise the clintons. I would be surprised if there aren't multiple coups already in the works

Really? You'd never know it from all the Democrats making pilgrimmages to see them. Judging from Bill Clinton's appearance before the Senate Democrats a few weeks ago, its clear they still worship him and Hillary - whether out of genuine affection or fear. Besides the Clintons have managed to destroy any possible challenge to their stranglehold on the party and if Kerry gets in their way, they will mow him down too. Coups against them have as much chance of succeeding as coups against Saddam Hussein when he was in power.

"I don't believe that Madame Hillary will accept anything less than the Oval Office...with her considerable derriere sitting behind the desk."

Well, they'd finally have a use for William Howard Taft's chair.

"George Bush has a problem right now that the Republican base isn't excited."

That may have been true a little over a week ago, but thanks to Kerry, McAuliffe and the media deciding to smear the President with his Guard service during Vietnam, to the point where the White House is releasing friggin' dental records and the press is howling that that's still not enough, the Republican base is suddenly very angry and a LOT less divided.

Can you imagine the VP debate with the novice Hillary going against Dick Cheney. The witch would never recover.

I noticed this too. Maybe we should thank McAwful for uniting the party. I noticed when one of their own is attacked, we Republicans circle the wagons. Its so good to be a Republican!

The dems have a BIG problem. The blacks, their most loyal lap-dogs, and the abortion-worshiping feminists, their second-most devoted, LOVE the Clintons. They cannot win the blue states without them since no sane white male would vote for a dem. So they are pretty well screwed unless they can lie long enough and hard enough to make some of those white males vote their way.

the Clintons have managed to destroy any possible challenge to their stranglehold on the party and if Kerry gets in their way, they will mow him down too

...so, therefore, do you think Kerry, for example. does not thoroughly despise the lovely couple?

The clintons are also weakened by the Dean campaign-financing paradigm (not to mention the documentation of their sui generis, simultaneous proliferation of both the weapons of mass destruction and the eager deployers of same ). Suddenly, the clinton campaign coffers are not so crucial.

"Democrats making pilgrimages" are democrats hedging their bets. At some (rapidly approaching) point, the Ds will calculate that that the clintons are more trouble than they're worth.
