Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2004 10:25 PM EST Gen. Giap: Kerry's Group Helped Hanoi Defeat U.S.
The North Vietnamese general in charge of the military campaign that finally drove the U.S. out of South Vietnam in 1975 credited a group led by Democratic presidential front-runner John Kerry with helping him achieve victory.
In his 1985 memoir about the war, General Vo Nguyen Giap wrote that if it weren't for organizations like Kerry's Vietnam Veterans Against the War, Hanoi would have surrendered to the U.S. - according to Fox News Channel war historian Oliver North.
That's why, he predicted on Tuesday, the Vietnam war issue "is going to blow up in Kerry's face."
"People are going to remember Gen. Giap saying if it weren't for these guys, [Kerry's group], we would have lost," North told radio host Sean Hannity.
"The Vietnam Veterans Against the War encouraged people to desert, encouraged people to mutiny - some used what they wrote to justify fragging officers," noted the former Marine Lieutenant Colonel, who earned two purple hearts in Vietnam.
"John Kerry has blood of American soldiers on his hands," North said.

My mistake. North is citing something other that what I presented above. North may still be right. The book I referenced was published a decade before 1985. Giap may well be more specific later on.
Danny Schechter the craven slug that licks the shoes of Gen. Giap, however, is alive and well doing what he seems to be born to do - breath lies and excrete slime. Among other things, this 'freedom fighter' gets his checks cut from all sorts of leftist media outlets including CNN and PBS. His heroic battle for truth is encapsulated here:

Oh my.
Kerry's got some seriously bad mojo on the horizon from Nam vets.
Rick Rescorla was a bona-fide hero in Nam. He died in the WTC on 9/11. Kerry p!sses on his grave. It's going to catch up with him.

Guys, I hate to tell you, but most of America doesn't care. You're right about most Americans, but I hate to see Vietnam vets and their families supporting Ketchup Boy because they don't know the truth. It's pretty early for the truth to start coming out, but I'd bet Karl Rove has a lot more stashed away to bring forth than some book written by a Commie lying bastard.

I am worried that this information will not get out because of spin and media bias. Only in bizarro world would Pol Pot head be up to be President but thats what we have. However, the new "in" thing is for kids to be consevative. Who could have guessed that?

Have people forgotten that Benedict Arnold was a war hero before he changed sides?

Autoresponder was saying there may be evidence Kerry demonstrated
against the United States government while he was still active duty.
If that were the case, it would have been a direct violation punishable under the Uniform Code of Military Justice.
Ping me if you find anything concrete to this effect please.

That was a really nasty time in American society. I was a college student at the time, and all the media information at the time was overwhelmingly negative and anti-US involvement. How could a college student make an informed opinion when the media coverage was so biased?
Because of that, the nation's will was sapped, with news about the Vietnamese didn't want to fight themselves but they were willing to let our boys fight and die for them. So nobody really wanted to go to Vietnam, let's be honest about it. The guys in my college class were sick about the prospect of going. When they had the draft drawings, by birthdays to set the order of who would be called up, it was a time of great stress for the young men. (FYI, I'm female.)
My own Mom and Dad even had a big argument about what they'd do if I had been a boy and I'd been called for the draft. (!) My Mom wanted to send me to Canada, and my Dad shouted, No kid of mine would go to Canada! Obviously this was a moot point, but my parents stopped talking for a whole day. So you can see the strong feelings and frustration that Vietnam generated!
That said, I absolutely DENOUNCE Kerry for becoming a leader in an organization that encouraged our soldiers to desert, and for testifying in Congress that our troops committed war crimes. And for saying that he's an internationalist and would put our troops under UN command. I hope for the good of our nation, that Kerry is defeated.

Gen. Vo Nguyen Giap
Born: 1912
Place of Birth: An Xa, Vietnam
Military University: none
Wars Fought:
-World War II
-First Indochina War(French-Indochina War 1946-1954)
-Second Indochina War(Vietnam War 1965-1972)
-Third Indochina War 1979-81
Vietnam War:
Gen. Giap planned and directed the military operations against the French that culminated in their defeat at the Battle of Dien Bien Phu in 1954. During the 1960's Giap controlled guerrilla operations against South Vietnam and the United States and planned the Tet Offensive of 1968.
In his book, Giap clearly indicated that NVA troops were without sufficient supplies, and had been continually defeated time and again.
By 1968, NVA morale was at it's lowest point ever. The plans for "Tet" '68 was their last desperate attempt to achieve a success, in an effort to boost the NVA morale. When it was over, General Giap and the NVA viewed the Tet '68 offensive as a failure, they were on their knees and had prepared to negotiate a surrender.
At that time, there were fewer than 10,000 U.S. casualties, the Vietnam War was about to end, as the NVA was prepared to accept their defeat. Then, they heard Walter Cronkite (former CBS News anchor and correspondent) on TV proclaiming the success of the Tet '68 offensive by the communist NVA. They were completely and totally amazed at hearing that the US Embassy had been overrun. In reality, The NVA had not gained access to the Embassy--there were some VC who had been killed on the grassy lawn, but they hadn't gained access. Further reports indicated the riots and protesting on the streets of America.
According to Giap, these distorted reports were inspirational to the NVA. They changed their plans from a negotiated surrender and decided instead, they only needed to persevere for one more hour, day, week, month, eventually the protesters in American would help them to achieve a victory they knew they could not win on the battlefield. Remember, this decision was made at a time when the U.S. casualties were fewer than 10,000, at the end of 1967, beginning of 1968.

From a Must Visit SiteVipers Vietnam Veterans Page, A Vietnam Veteran & Proud Web Site About VietnamThe Vietnam war was the longest in our nation's history. Two American advisors were killed on July 8, 1959, and the last casualties in connection with the war occurred on May 15, 1975, during the Mayaquez incident. Approximately 2.7 million Americans served in the war zone; 300,000 were wounded and approximately 75,000 permanently disabled. Officially there are still 1,991 Americans unaccounted for from SE Asia.
Vietnam was a savage, in your face war where death could and did strike from anywhere with absolutely no warning. The brave young men and women who fought that war paid an awful price of blood, pain and suffering. As it is said: "ALL GAVE SOME ... SOME GAVE ALL"
The Vietnam war was not lost on the battlefield. No American force in ANY other conflict fought with more determination or sheer courage than the Vietnam Veteran. For the first time in our history America sent it's young men and women into a war run by inept politicians who had no grasp of military strategies and no moral will to win. They were led by "top brass" who were concerned mainly with furthering their own careers, most neither understood the nature of the war nor had a clue about the impossible mission with which they'd tasked their soldiers. And the war was reported by a self serving Media who penned stories filled with inaccuracies, deliberate omissions, biased presentations and blatant distorted interpretations because they were more interested in a story than the truth! It can be debated that we should never have fought that war. It can also be argued that the young Americans who fought so courageously, never losing a single major battle, helped in a huge way to WIN THE COLD WAR.
