Kerry's Anti-War Record Discussed at White House Briefing
2/10/2004 | Jeff Gannon

Posted on 02/10/2004 2:56:29 PM PST by Jeff Gannon

This was the exchange at today's White House press briefing, much of which focused on George W. Bush's service records with the National Guard.

JEFF GANNON (Talon News): Since there have been so many questions about what the President was doing over 30 years ago, what is it that he did after his honorable discharge from the National Guard?

Did he make speeches alongside Jane Fonda, denouncing America's racist war in Vietnam?

Did he testify before Congress that American troops committed war crimes in Vietnam?

And did he throw somebody else's medals at the White House to protest a war America was still fighting?

What was he doing after he was honorably discharged?

MR. McCLELLAN: We've already commented on some of his views relating back to that period the other day. And, obviously, this was a time period also when he was going to get his MBA at Harvard. But the President was certainly proud to serve in the National Guard.

TERRY MORAN (ABC NEWS): And would the White House consider those actions by Senator Kerry, that Jeff mentions fair game in the political season?

MR. McCLELLAN: Terry, I think -- I know that that's a way to try to draw us into a Democratic primary that is ongoing.

Newsmax found it. My mom said that Rush Limbaugh was talking about the picture, so it's probably legit.

I was clapping so hard I missed what Moran asked after Jeff raised his pointed questions

And would the White House consider those actions by Senator Kerry, that Jeff mentions fair game in the political season?

McClellan should have asked if it's fair game for Kerry to subtly keep the AWOL fires burning by saying these are serious questions that should be answered, instead of denouncing it as he did when it was raised about X42 avoiding the draft. I'm going to try and find Moran's e-mail address.

Might very well be the last gasp of the 60's radical left.

Please Lord, may it be so!

As a 'boomer' I have spent nearly 40 years ashamed of my own generation.

I hope that the truth about this man's sordid, treacherous past will be made known all over the land, and the shame of what these people did to harm our soldiers AND our country, brought to light.

And it will give me great pleasure to know, should that happen, that it was the RATS and their accomplices in the media who made it happen because their hatred of our fine President exceeded their ability to think........

Thanks again, Jeff. We look forward to an interesting election season with you as a lone voice speaking on behalf of half the country :-)

Scott McClellan actually works for the People of the United States, not the President. He is supposed to be informing the public. Clinton never followed this. His spokespeople took cheap shots left and right at his political foes.

The President needs a campaign manager to answer those kind of argumentative questions and soon.

We're hearing Kerry is trying to pull all kinds of strings to find any damaging material on the Bush administration pre-9/11...

That's why they want to keep this commission going as long as possible. Same thing is going to happen with the intelligence commission. We've seen over and over again how weak Republicans on the Hill are in the face of Dem aggression. What makes anyone think Republicans on these commissions are any different?

Win or lose in November, the Dems are out to hang, draw and quarter GWB's reputation and credibility. They are on the march and are very motivated. Why? They can't afford to let stand GWB's very strong America-first foreign policy, which is built on the strongest defense of U.S. sovereignty at least since Truman had the guts to use the bomb. GWB's foreign policy is a huge blow to the left's most cherished wet dream, a global superstate. Generation after generation, they have been working toward it since Marx's day. They aren't about to quit now. That's really why they hate him so.

No word from him at all in two weeks.

We're hoping that it means that he's too busy packing up to come HOME to call!
