The anguish I feel about this case is palpable. Please pray for the soul of this little girl whose life was cut short and probably suffered horribly at the end.

Keep her family in prayer and let them feel God's comfort as they go through what we parents can only vaguely and hesitantly imagine.

If you child is old enough to walk about alone or with friends, please let them see the video of Carlie's encounter with this personification of evil.

I am trying to give the benefit of the doubt to those involved. I suspect the Parole Officer tried to get this creep back behind bars by trying to violate him for non payment of his fines. The judge says he never met the perp. If he didn't have all the info, or gave it a cursory glance, he may have believed he was sparing a person jail time for not being able to afford the fine. I'm not sure a judge would read the details and rap sheet & not take the opportunity to get this person behind bars. Its been brought to his attention, and his superiors. He and they will live with this and learn from this.

Nothing will bring Carlie back, or spare her the torture she went through in her final moments. Nothing will take back the words her parents had to hear. The system may have failed her and all of us, but one person was responsible. Lets make sure this guilty party is appropriately punished and reduce chances of this ever happening again.

That miserable piece of trash should have gotten life in prison, but, no...a bleeding heart parle board turned him loose from prison, and, 6 months later Dru was kidnapped, and quite possibly murdered.

Yes Bella, I live right here in Sarasota...this has been a very overwhelming and upsetting situation.

I grew up in a town in CT (Vernon) where something similar happened many years ago...a little girl (7 years old) named Janice Pocket went amissing and it wasn't until many mnay years later she was found. The killer Michael Ross (I believe still on death row in CT) was a serial killer and killed 7 women including another Patricia Luce from Vernon. Something like this you never forget. Even though I was very young back then...the front pages of the newspaper still is as clear as if it happened last week.

This community will never be the same and having four children myself...it is very scary and troubling.

Like any tragedy like this WE CAN NEVER FORGET!

I hope the authorities research other unsolved cases maybe he is a serial killer as well.

Many of them had unlockd doors through which he entered.

I started thinking the worst today. I started thinking that maybe Carlie was the type of 11 year old that smoked drugs. I don't know why.. Poor Child.. I guess because some do and it's out there. I started thinking today that maybe Carlie was familiar with Smith and lured by him... Maybe Smith pulled grass out of his pocket and showed her that in the carwash parking lot... He showed her something that compelled her. Geez, I wish they would show close ups of their hands in that video.. She looked reluctant, but she did not put up a violent struggle to get away from him.
