Pardon me for jumping in, but you have completely missed the point the other poster was trying to make.

No, you've just missed the point that his point was nonsense from any valid Jewish or Christian theological perspective.

Chill

Perhaps you should try to get a clue before offering suggestions to others on topics about which you apparently know nothing.

This has really been a sad and infuriating week. Sunday night my sister and I were in my kitchen arranging flowers to take to the funeral home for a friend who died way too young of a massive heart attack. We were watching the Super Bowl (or at least it was on in the kitchen) I happened to glance at the television about the time Janet Jackson revealed herself. Disgusting. Now this.

I teach sixth graders. The kids are children. Sure, some of the girls are taller and more developed making them appear to be older than they are. But, they are still little children. I also teach the son of my friend who died. Just stressful to see families hurting for reasons none of us can explain. I feel for Carlie's family. Several of my students mentioned her today so I know their parents are concerned. Kids have lost their innocence and we can't even watch football games anymore without being subjected to filth. Maybe this isn't a well connected post and I am just a bystander of all this but it is very sad.

I thought Savage was on vacation

I dunno. I can only get his show here in Phoenix until the sun goes down then we lose the feed or something. (whatever the technical term is). I caught about ten minutes and he was on religion and the new movie by Mel Gibson.

I didn't catch the monologue, he might not have been up to discussing the topic. It is draining, emotionally.

I think I've expressed my feelings above. I am a bystander also. Just 15 blocks from where everything took place. It is both sad, frustrating and disgusting. Anger and sadness are the two most draining emotions. I shall be drained for days to follow I guess.

Oh, my. I hate to add to your list of very wrong things, but there is also the appalling lying about what the Bush administration has said, what Tenet said in his excellent speech yesterday, the rah rahing over Kerry by the media.

:(

I know what you are saying. What happened to Carlie is so very sad...

You did not understand what they were getting at, and I'm not going to bother tracing the conversation for you, but trust me, I get it, you don't.

Smack me for being mean--but I have heard the school principal twice today, and he seems to really enjoy hearing himself talk.

He must have his eye on the Superintendent job...They all love an audience, talk like politicians. I've worked for the School Dist. here for 11 years. Our last 3 Supers were Principals of Jr. Highs.

You Christians let any scumbag in, just for saying he believes in JC.

Laz, buddy.......you miss it entirely. It is a change of heart. If someone says they believe Jesus Christ is their Savior, it is absolutely meaningless unless they truly belive it in their heart. God searches the heart. Nothing is hidden from Him, including our thoughts. It is believing that Jesus Christ will save your soul from eternal damnation. It is believing that Jesus Christ is God in the flesh. It is asking Jesus Christ to come into your heart and live there.

Anybody can say anything. Anybody can SAY they believe in Jesus Christ. Satan believes in Jesus Christ, because Satan knows that he is going to be defeated by Jesus Christ, resulting in Satan spending all eternity in Hell, which was created specifically for Satan and his demons, not for humans, although human spirits are going to wind up there.

That too. Just despicable. I did see some out-takes of Tenet's speech and it was very persuasive.

Read Psalm 22. It was written by that same King David, and it's the same words Jesus spoke on the Cross. Are you suggesting that Jesus would be quoting the words of a denizen of Hell when He was dying?

Well, we're digressing from the topic of this thread. Maybe this would be more appropriately discussed in chat(General Interest)

But, having said that I will simply state that David committed sins of an extremely grievous nature and only God can know if he truly repented for those sins.

As for Jesus and what He said while enduring the horrors of crucifixion I will only say that He is also quoted as calling to God, "Why hast thou forsaken me".

Now, did He really believe that God had forsaken Him?

He was absolutely basking in the limelight. It was annoying, particularly in view of the occasion. Unfortunately, his voice did not carry a tone of sympathy either.

I recieved a long e-mail tonight from a friend who lives in Sarasota, approximately 1/2 mile from the now infamous car wash. Among many other details which we don't get up here, she says the Sarasota county authorities, I assume she means the prosecutor's office, made a deal with Smith to forego asking for the death penalty in exchange for him disclosing the location of Carli's body. Apparently such a deal can only be made if the victim's family is willing to agree to it, and the Brucia family agreed in order to recover the body as soon as possible and to obtain a promised confession by Smith.

I have confidence in my friend's veracity but I haven't heard anything up here on TV about a deal, which makes me curious as to why. Can you verify any of what she says? I'm sure rumors are running wild in Sarasota today, and it's possible that my well intentioned friend has been mislead by a false rumor. I certainly hope that's the case, because I want that fiend to pay with his life for what he did to that poor kid.

"If he butchered her the way Joyce Wishart was butchered, they might have found proof of Carlie's death in the car..."

dare I ask how?

Totally untrue. I live just over a mile from this entire episode as I said in post 815. There was no deal. He has told another inmate about the location and the other inmate cut a deal for leniency to rat on Smith. That is the latest from the local news.

Nothing good come of this. My hometown is now like the "big cities." We have the dramatic crime now. We have the Hollywood weirdos. And the corrupt judges and politicians.

while details have not been released, it may have been a deal for housing. The predator was moved this morning up to Manatee County, and placed in isolation. It is not seriously believed that the death penalty was taken off the table.

I keep hearing conflicting stories about it. One of the news reports today said they "were in negotiations" all night last night, and that he was the one who told them where to find the body.

So, if he got life, and ended up getting killed by another inmate, that's not good enough. He needs to be hung in public. The people (the good people, who are fed up with the fear and loathing and perversion) need to demand it.
