I hope the lawyer scum and judges who managed to get him off on his first kidnapping charge sleep well tonight. In hell!!! Just goes to show the utter failure of our "legal system", where the word "justice" is nothing more than a money-making mantra. Hell, we probably couldn't even find a jail cell for him, with all those dangerous, criminal pot smokers taking up space! I am sick to death over this whole affair, we worry so much about making sure our children are safe and healthy, only to grow up and live in a society that is terminally ill and perverted, and we get how many thousands of hours of broadcasting over JJ, that b*tch, who has to LOWER US TOWARDS BEING DOGS even more!

Who is this Smith person people keep mentioning? Do they have a suspect? Joe Smith. He is a (probably THE only) suspect.

Jospeh Smith was the "alleged" person in the video who is the prime suspect in the killing. He is being held here without bond. I use the term "alleged" only to be politically correct.

The jury let him off. Let that be a lesson to those of us who have jury duty, what an awesom responsibility it is.

There will be no plea bargain now. The Sarasota DA will never go for it. I want to start a movement to impeach that judge that set this animal free.

I only heard about her kidnap and saw the video but didn't know they tracked down who that animal was that took Carlie. How did they discover who it was on the video?

There is another judge who could have prevented this nightmare.
A state Department of Corrections official, meanwhile, said a probation officer had asked a judge to declare Smith in violation of his probation on Dec. 30 [2003] because the unemployed mechanic had not paid all his fines and court costs.
Probation official Joe Papy said Circuit Judge Harry Rapkin declined to find Smith in violation, which could have returned Smith to jail.

NASA helped enhance the video, and they realized they already had this guy in jail on unrelated charges.

I want to start a movement to impeach that judge that set this animal free. If I have my hunches in order, the judge did what the jury "ordered" him to do. I haven't found a clear statement that the trial was a jury trial, but I think it was.

They got LOTS of tips from airing the video. Over 100 the first day.

You'd also have to impeach the jury who acquitted him of the assault charges, but he has a history of getting second chances, according to the story at the link. But I'd like to see his parole officer canned for not tossing him in the can for repeated violations of his parole.
