SANAA, Yemen, Jan. 24 (UPI) -- A purported statement by al-Qaida in Yemen warned Saturday of a "major strike" soon in the United States.

The statement, distributed by the Yemeni Tagamoo Party for Reforms, said: "A major strike, a big event will take place in America soon," reminiscent of the Sept. 11 attacks.

Russians fired up over AK-47 copy

NEW DELHI, Feb. 6 (UPI) -- India's state weapons maker apparently designed and built a knock off of a popular Russian firearm -- and then tried to sell it back to the Russians.

It didn't work.

The AK-47 or Kalashnikov automatic rifle is the preferred weapon of non-western infantries and guerrillas the world over and is licensed by various arms makers, the BBC reported Friday.

Representatives from Russia's Izhmash, the gun's original manufacturer, discovered what they saw as an Indian rip-off of their AK-47 at an arms fair in New Delhi.

Furious, they demanded proof of a license.

But India's Ordnance Factory Board responded that the weapon is different enough to count as a distinct design.

The new weapon has yet to appear on OFB's website, which advertises products ranging from pistols to battle tanks.

Russian companies spent two years disputing who owned rights to the AK-47 before Izhmash finally won sole control in 2002.

IMHO, based on the captions, these cards were made up by some lefties here in the U.S.A and the Jihadists compiled them in a Flash file or just modified an existing Flash presentation. Ya think these creeps give a rip about 'Enron' or 'The Patriot Act'? Hmmm..., I believe I've seen the cards on the web before as an array of jpegs at some lefty trash-talking site like IndyMedia (yes, I ocassionally lurk in in these dark caves - Know the enemy and all that), it may have been a link to another site. If I can find it I'll post a link.

I think you are right. Now that you mention it, I remember reading just that. I didn't look at those cards, but I bet they are the same ones.

Doing a google news search this is the info that is being provided by the local media. The powder was found on a mail sorting machine. This article link says the powder found will be tested. Snip: "Firefighters removed the powder, which will be tested, she said. "We have this happen quite a bit," Holman said. "The postal service has a protocol for this."

This article link states that the powder is not ricin but that's about all it says.

Isn't that special. Both articles are from this morning, local time. No other info (that I could find) since then.
