STATEMENT BY PRESIDENT GEORGE W. BUSH ON THE MA SUPREME COURT RULING APPROVING GAY MARRIAGE
The White House ^ | February 4, 2004 | President George W. Bush

STATEMENT BY THE PRESIDENT

Today's ruling of the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court is deeply troubling. Marriage is a sacred institution between a man and a woman. If activist judges insist on re-defining marriage by court order, the only alternative will be the constitutional process. We must do what is legally necessary to defend the sanctity of marriage.

Cannot find Kerry's statement anywhere on his site. Funny has he never hesitates to make a statement criticizing Pres Bush -- found plenty of those, but when it comes to this, silence so far on gay marriage.

The lowlife is now concerned about enough supplies for the military in Iraq when he voted against the bill to provide more money for the military in Iraq!

So Kerry believes that if one state legalizes homosexual marriages, then EVERY state must therefore recognize it as legitimate.

Gotcha Horseface.

The MAss constitution already has an article stating quite clearly that marriage is the purview of the governor and the legislature.

Chapter III. JUDICIARY POWER. Article V. All causes of marriage, divorce, and alimony, and all appeals from the judges of probate shall be heard and determined by the governor and council, until the legislature shall, by law, make other provision.

Different issues gitmo.

Bush v Gore was decided on a equal protection basis and a violation Artile 2, section 1, clause 2 of the constitution which states "“Each State shall appoint, in such Manner as the Legislature thereof may direct, the electors for the office of President and Vice President."

Marriage licensing is a liberty issue taht rightfully belongs to the states and SCOTUS won't touch it with a ten foot pole although they did touch Texas' power to legislate liberty issues regarding certain sexual proclivities.

And so it goes.

Thanks for posting that information. Perfect timing because this Country could use some prayers after this ruling in MA along with prayers for our military around the world.

Homosexual Agenda Ping! GWB says it good!

I say, bring it on. Like Al Qaeda, have them all in one place - easier to fight. Let the "gay" activists and their minions get as extreme as they want - then we'll know who the enemies of human civilization are.

If anyone wants on or off this ping list, ping me!

Maybe we can encase the whole courthouse in a giant lucite cube.

That would be awesome! Would you drill air holes?

Yeah! Send in the national guard and lock-down the courthouse!

Don't forget the Air National Guard.

Impeach, remove, and publicly shame activist judges until we remove judicial tyranny from the land.

Here's Kerry's full statement:

"On the Democratic side, Massachusetts Sen. John Kerry, the front-runner for the party's presidential nomination, said in a statement, "I believe and have fought for the principle that we should protect the fundamental rights of gay and lesbian couples - from inheritance to health benefits. I believe the right answer is civil unions. I oppose gay marriage and disagree with the Massachusetts Court's decision."

LOL, he's so fos it's unbelievable.

Pardon my abbreviations.

Not gonna happen.

It's certainly not something I'd bet on, but it is something we can start asking persistant questions about why the Senate is unwilling to act.

Ohio, a battleground state, just passed the most stringent DOMA act in the country even codifying that civil unions are invalid.

This could be good for Bush IF gay marriage becomes a major issue leading up to the election.
We can only hope!

Would you drill air holes?

I think a length of 4" PVC pipe could be used to provide air and one of those pneumatic message tubes so they can be taunted into surrender.

LOL!

Also, if you haven't seen it yet, OPS4 has a thread about Vietnam veterans' views on Kerry. OPS4's thread is http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1071467/posts

and be sure to click the origin link: http://www.vietnamveteransagainstjohnkerry.com/

Some pretty incredible documentation there.

There should be an amendment - but in Massachusetts' constitution.

Precisely. And apparently a constitutional amendment will be introduced to that effect next Wednesday in that Commonwealth.

If it fails, which is certainly conceivable, then it would have to be addressed at the Federal level, either as a Constitutional amendment which denies full faith and credit for gay marriage (rather unworkable), or defines it only as between one man and one woman.
