Statement by NFL Executive Vice President Joe Browne regarding the Super Bowl halftime show:

"We were extremely disappointed by elements of the MTV-produced Halftime show. They were totally inconsistent with assurances our office was given about the show. It's unlikely that MTV will produce another Super Bowl halftime."

You see, here's the thing buddy. I don't even have a television. Haven't owned one in over a decade. Jerry Springer is merely a literal reference to me.

I love most kinds of music, from rock to jazz to classical, but I have yet to understand the appeal of this crap. About 25 years ago, I was walking next to Trinity Church, in the Wall Street area of NYC. I saw a young Black kid carrying a boom box (on his shoulder) that was the size of an aircraft carrier. The noise emanating from this device was peculiarly obnoxious. It consisted of a monotonous bass line, repeated ad nauseum, and a male voice talking ("rapping") over the bass, discussing his various sexual adventures. Apparently, this must be played loud enough to rattle nearby windows in order to achieve the proper effect. I wandered up to my office, shaking my head, and describing this new fad. I predicted a life expectancy for the genre of three to five weeks. Fortunately, I did a little bit better with my prognosticating as a stock trader.

"We have MTV locked out at our house. Samwise Jr. has her own parent-approved list for television, and she doesn't have the code to unlock shows or channels we haven't approved. We know what our kid is watching.

But we were blindsided. I'm not a sports fan, and I didn't know MTV had anything to do with the half time.

My eleven-year-old's response was "That is digusting!"

My kids and I watched the superbowl for the first time in 8 years tonight and I had no idea what we would be instore for. I leave the set for 10 minutes to releave myself only to return and see that last spot. I was floored and outraged that my kids saw that mess and the stuff that went on even before it as I am learning about even as we speak. I can't believe it. My children exposed to this mess because they wanted to watch their favorite team in the Superbowl.

No more TV anymore. Good thing we didn't watch it much before either because we sure won't miss it. Now the greatest American sport has become the lowest form of entertainment in America. Thanks dims, now I have no rights AND no sports. I hope that this will result in a wake up call to arm chair voters this year.

This was the Super Bowl -- A SPORTING EVENT! It is not supposed to be Girls Gone Wild -- the Super Bowl is supposed to be something you can watch with your family.

Shoot the NFL and college football should be viewable by the whole family. I'm embarrassed to watch football in front of my 89 year old grandmother, because of the advertizing among other things.
