Did anyone else see if Justin Timberlake pulled off Janet Jackson's top?

Thanks for the ping, Meek. I was hoping for a better 'half time' show since it was in Texas. Disgusting amoral liberals put on that show!!

Run a tie clip up a flag pole and salute and tell me how it goes. I've also seen t-shirts with US flags on them at VFW meetings and FR protests. Do you think a t-shirt looks ok on a flagpole? I feel like I've time-machined back to the 60's revisiting this argument. Pancho or tie-clip makes no nevermind. The supremes decided you could wear a flag back in the 60's, regardless of your internal convictions, or fashion-savvy, and they were right.

Kid Rock pissed me off more than Jackson, big time!

Does the term "Class Action Lawsuit" come to mind?

Thanks for the ping, Meek. I was hoping for a better 'half time' show since it was in Texas. Disgusting amoral liberals put on that show! It makes no sense to me that people in a venue like the Superbowl would try to mimic something that's already being shown and done better on MTV 24/7. Why not do a halftime show of something people don't see everyday? Marching bands may seem dated to some, but can do some pretty neat stuff. And a Rockettes-style stage show could be pretty neat as well. All while providing wholesome entertainment.

Does the term "Class Action Lawsuit" come to mind? I'd like to first see AOL sue CBS for the value of its sponsorship contract. I suspect AOL could get far more good publicity from that than it would have gotten from all its ads even without the Jackson fiasco.

I agree with you totally! Texas has so much to offer from this vast state that I can't believe they couldn't have planned a 'Texas style' halftime.
I would imagine that Houston is getting some feedback on this too. I have 3 brothers in Houston and I'll have to ask them what 'the talk' is there!!

Spice channel??? You see more on MTV everyday and PG-13 movies, then you saw at the Superbowl. You are assuming that people who watched the halftime show are USED to watching MTV.
THE POINT is, that display was totally inappropriate for the audience. Period. People who want to see this kind of thing can choose to do so. Aren't libertines always saying to those who object, "Well, if you don't like it, change the channel."?
Most parents assume they can watch a sporting event without being subjected to trashy sexually explicit displays by no-talent "celebrities". It doesn't take a great deal of talent or imagination to take your clothes off in public. Only a below average IQ.

And my point is, lay blame where it lies....CBS and MTV.....NOT THE NFL.
To: humboldtconservative
If the NFL can be used to apply pressure to Viacom, then it should hear from the public.
To: Tuscaloosa Goldfinch
The NFL is hearing it from the public....the uninformed public. The thing that surprises me about these threads is everyone here already hates CBS. Why the need to hate the NFL too?
To: humboldtconservative
You are overstating my position. I've said NOTHING about hating the NFL. What I said was, if they can be used to apply pressure to Viacom, then they should be used.
The NFL has no small influence in the type of entertainment which will be presented during halftime in the future. They may not be directly to blame, but it's still a sin of ommission. If they hear from enough of us, they will be very careful to have contracts written in such a way that penalties or forfeiture of future business dealings with offending companies will apply.
It's just common sense, and these type of business forces are used all the time.

...the Superbowl parties across the nations churches are a good way for fellowship with your brothers in Christ and to lead others to salvation. I have to disagree somewhat on this point when I think about the vulgar and borderline-indecent ads that are run during the show (obscene material aside). WHERE do you draw the line? I'm sure that, while the halftime show is a TIMED event (and can be 'offed' easily and without 'fear' of losing any of the game), no one is sitting there blipping-out each and every commercial that comes along.
Fellowship is necessary, outreach is commanded, but, at the cost of reputation? Superbowl shows have now proven themselves too big of a liability to sanction as a Church-sponsored event. You wanna do it at someone else's house? Fine; but it shouldn't be done in God's House. (this topic is the first item on the agendum for our next Congregational Meeting which is still 2 months away)

I see your point but I for one wont pretend that when I walk through a mall with some Christian friends fellowshipping, I dont see the skanky little tramps fit to be in a dirty mag. Heck, I have seen some risque looking girls at church itself. We live in a world that is of the world. You cant avoid it 100% without seeing it sometime.

For the record, the NFL has NOTHING to do with the half-time show, once they sign the contract. It was produced by MTV, a sibling of CBS under VIACOM

Well, yeah... that is what they're for!
To: dangus
for the record,, they have had a great game overshadowed by an amateurish publicity stunt.
The NFL is the ultimate victim and its fans.
They always claim how they have exclusive rights at the end of the programs during the season.
Gosh, now they don't.
Weird contract that is.
I guess I could dig up the contract .. you wouldn't happen to have the source handy?

Most parents assume they can watch a sporting event without being subjected to trashy sexually explicit displays by no-talent "celebrities".Actually, I've had to ask my husband to be sure and turn the channel during commercials while watching football games so that our 6- and 8-yr-old sons don't see any of the offensive commercials.
The sad thing about this whole half-time assault was that people even kept watching when the exhibitionists started their x-rated antics. I missed the "grand finale" because I couldn't take the *crap* leading up to it. Unfortunately, too many of the teenagers from my little Houston suburban town were in the "fake crowd" for the whole thing. I don't think their parents knew they'd be close up to a virtual orgy...
