I have to disagree somewhat on this point when I think about the vulgar and borderline-indecent ads that are run during the show (obscene material aside). WHERE do you draw the line? I'm sure that, while the halftime show is a TIMED event (and can be 'offed' easily and without 'fear' of losing any of the game), no one is sitting there blipping-out each and every commercial that comes along.
Fellowship is necessary, outreach is commanded, but, at the cost of reputation? Superbowl shows have now proven themselves too big of a liability to sanction as a Church-sponsored event. You wanna do it at someone else's house? Fine; but it shouldn't be done in God's House. (this topic is the first item on the agendum for our next Congregational Meeting which is still 2 months away)
I see your point but I for one wont pretend that when I walk through a mall with some Christian friends fellowshipping, I dont see the skanky little tramps fit to be in a dirty mag. Heck, I have seen some risque looking girls at church itself. We live in a world that is of the world. You cant avoid it 100% without seeing it sometime.
