Stick With President Bush In November (Good Reasons NOT To Stay At Home) (My Title)
Worldnetdaily.com ^ | 01/31/04 | Henry Lamb

Posted on 01/31/2004 4:55:14 AM PST by goldstategop

The most serious threat to President Bush's second term is not a Democrat; it is the growing mass of disenchanted Republicans who are accepting the proposition that there is little or no difference between the two major parties.

"Where are they going to go?" says a well-placed Bush operative. "You know they'll never vote for Dean or Kerry. And there's no Ross Perot on the horizon."

Where will they go? Nowhere. And that's the point. Republicans, especially the more conservative variety, are likely to stay home in droves. So far, the Republican strategists appear to be oblivious to this possibility.

Perhaps conservative Republicans expected too much too soon from a Republican administration. The Democrats had eight years to fill the agencies of government with activists from their special-interest groups. It is true that President Bush quickly dumped the most egregious of these types, whose positions are political plums. The underlings hired by the political appointees, however, are protected by civil-service regulations and cannot be fired, or even reassigned, without non-political justification.

The disappointment of conservatives goes much deeper and questions the fundamental philosophy which guides the administration. After eight years of watching the Clinton-Gore team march the United States directly into the jaws of a global socialist government, Bush supporters expected a screeching halt and a major course correction.

Conservatives cheered Bush's withdrawal from the Kyoto Protocol – a screeching halt and a major course correction – while socialists abroad and Democrats at home condemned the president.

When Bush defied the U.N. Security Council, and created a multi-national coalition to eliminate Saddam Hussein, conservatives split, some cheering the action, some joining the Democrats at home and socialists abroad who condemned the action.

The Patriot Act, the prescription drug program, the "guest worker" program, the so-called "free trade" programs and a half-trillion dollar deficit have left conservatives reeling, wondering why a Republican administration and Congress have produced results that look so much like what they would expect from a Democrat administration and Congress.

Consequently, many, many Republicans have thrown up their hands and have decided to either join some doomed third-party movement or simply stay home.

While this reaction may be understandable, it is not only self-defeating, it violates the first law of true believers: Never, never, never, never give up!

It is true that Republican hold the White House and a razor-thin majority in Congress. It is also true that the nation is divided, almost down the middle, between people who want to continue the Clinton-Gore path toward global socialist government and those who want to abandon that path and move the United States toward more individual freedom, free markets and voluntary cooperation among sovereign nations.

Rather than give up and stay at home, a better strategy may be for conservatives to realize that the election of President Bush in 2000, and securing a slim majority in Congress in 2002, is just the first step in a long journey. Conservatives should realize that it takes 60 senators to prevail over the Democrats' filibuster.

Rather than throw in the towel, conservatives might throw their effort into the campaigns of conservative candidates for the House and Senate, and for the state legislatures and county commissions.

The global socialist agenda moved into high gear after the fall of the Berlin Wall, aided dramatically by the progressive Democrats in the United States. The Bush election in 2000 disrupted that agenda, and to them, nothing is more important than removing the Bush obstacle. Conservatives who decide to give up and stay at home will be aiding and abetting the enemies of freedom.

A return to progressive Democrat leadership in the United States is a return to the Kyoto Protocol and U.N. control over energy use in the United States. It is a return to subservience to the United Nations – as Howard Dean says, to get "permission" from the U.N. before defending our nation. It is a return to total government control over land use, education and every other facet of life.

In 2000, conservatives barely got a foothold on the bridge of the ship of state. In 2002, conservatives began to get a grip on the wheel. In 2004, conservatives have an opportunity to bring on more hands and to permanently discharge some of the progressive Democrats who continue to fight desperately for control.

Democrats alone cannot regain control. If conservatives give up, throw in the towel and fail to show up for the November battle, the Democrats will win by default. Conservatives who truly believe that freedom is better than socialism, those who want freedom for their children rather than a world socialist government, will never, never, never, never give up. They will show up in November.

Subsidize my college?????????? I have loans!!! Throw them to the wolves??? No, but at some point the insanity must end. We are going broke and still saying, "yeah, but it is for a good cause." Everyone should get care, but I think that the current framework is terrible and totally wasteful. Seniors should not be encouraged to run to the doctors at taxpayer expense every time they have a runny nose. All I am saying is that if they can afford it, they should pay for it.

”Americans had better get out the vote and re-elect George W. Bush as though the fate of the world depended on it!

There will be many frauds to keep President Bush out of the White House this next election;
during the primaries watch the states that use electronic voting machines – closely;
don’t let the propaganda blind you to the facts i.e., tax cuts for the rich – President Bush lied to the American people – Castro’s claim that President Bush is out to kill him...pure BS and on and on.....This election is about the Republic v. Socialism, it is not about single issues - stay with this President, he is doing a superb job for the country.

Kerry is the press’s darling this week, John Edwards will be next week – the press will try to run this election.

Don’t vote at your peril – Hillary will be on the ticket come the convention....who will you want to lead during the War on Terrorism – a Socialist Democrat or a Republican for the Republic...the choice is up to you and your vote DOES count.

Don’t let spin, rhetoric and pure unadulterated media propaganda turn your head!

Ah, in Tolkien's parlance, you would be making Saruman's gambit, hoping to rein in evil, albeit a lesser, easier-going, "compassionate" one. GW and the GOP believe they can take the One Ring and wield it for "good". They are hopelessly wrong. The ONLY answer is to destroy the ring.

The Medicare thing....1/3 cost "error" in two months, is the final straw for me.

And getting the millions of socialists he's bringing in from Mexico to be in on Medicare --- even when they aren't here legally nor retired was completely absurd. Now Medicare is being used to have Americans pay for the free health care we plan to give foreigners who don't want to pay for it themselves.

You would have larger loans. That generation did pay for the services promised by government, this generation expects their children to pay. Pathetic

Bush isn't perfect - nobody is. But the time to effectuate a policy change by altering leadership will come in the primary battles of 2008, not by juimping ship in 2004.

The alternatives to George Bush II as president are simply too frightening to conceive.

I strongly urge ALL Freepers, conservatives and Republicans to:

Write in Tancredo in the Primary

Go out and campaign like hell for George Bush II in the General Election and support his candidacy for office. The U.S. will loose face overseas, will totally cave in to the U.N., and will become vulnerable to terrorist attacks from within should any oone of the wack jobs the Dems put up get elected.

Democrats = Bolsheviks

Anyone who thinks a dim for pres will 'teach those pubbies a lesson' is out of their mind. If you don't like something, don't just gripe on this thread. Email Congress and Dubya and tell them. Staying home or voting 3rd party is supporting the dims. See post #6 for reasons NOT to do this.

"Conservatives who decide to give up and stay at home will be aiding and abetting the enemies of freedom."

Bull...This isn't about liberalism or conservatism; it is about corruption and graft, where millions in campaign contributions are recklessly transformed into billions in additional tax payer burden. It is so easy for this administration. They have no economic objectives, indeed Bush has distanced himself from the US economy repeatedly. They have no stated fiscal objectives and can increase our national debt at will. Congress has been transformed into little more then a rubber stamp; we have never seen so many spending packages flowing through both houses so fast. Yes, they have given us a "tax cut", and they have also increased our debt burden by several times as much. But, who cares about that, perhaps we will all be dead or living elsewhere by the time it comes due.

Bush can campaign on the fact that he increased spending, kept his promises, protected senior citizens, funded education. America can trust conservatives.<

Affirming the democrats socialist agenda in other words. Why doesn't he promote the Constitution which never gave the federal government the total power over people to do all that --- no where in the Constitution does the federal government have control over education, health care etc.

Will you FReep YOUR state Republican convention? My conscience will be clear if I know that I have done all I can do to fight evil. One thing about Republicans and conservatives, they don't know how to energize their base. The leftists are masters of it.

I have gone to a few of my local Republican functions. The people that show are very nice, but are not "Activists". They are the country club conservatives. They were not there to organize as a effective group, they were there for a social function. I always leave feeling stupid for going.

Yep, I'm going to start FReeping my own party.
All the Best

CFR - increases hard money

No Child Left Behind - holds schools/teachers accountable for teaching

Medicare expansion - reform built in - medical savings accounts

Wetback amnesty - Dubya campaigned on this

He is keeping his campaign promises. Why is everyone acting betrayed?

Partial birth abortion ban - never from a dim

telling the UN to act or be irrelevant - the dims want them in charge

See post #6 for more.

Because Bush does not believe that and we did not have a candidate running in 2000 that did believe that.

Didn't your mommy ever tell you that you can't always have what you want and that you might have to choose from what is available?

Why dont you conservatives look at the big picture. Judges. Once your boy Kerry gets in office we are looking at possibly 3 Supremes and they will all decide international law trumps the Constitution and if you deny that I question your credibility. If tax cuts, PBA ban, brilliant war on terror ( and Bush is the ONLY guy who would fight it as a war), attempt to install conservative judges, getting out of Kyoto, and standing up to the UN numerous times is not good enough then you will never be happy. NONE of the above would have been accomplished under Kerry, on the contrary they would be the opposite.

Just what do you think Jean F. Cheri is going to do as President.

The president can only propose, Congress makes it reality. Today Congress rolls over and gives Bush just about whatever he asks, and they're proud of it.

Sorry folks, I can't support GW Bush with his socialist tendencies. And no, I'm not going to stay home and I can't possibly vote for any of the Demicans.
I'll be writing in Ron Paul.

It's foolish to "Stay the course" when the course is into the shoals and toward the rocks.

The Medicare thing....1/3 cost "error" in two months, is the final straw for me.

Remember:

1. Withdrew from Kyoto.

2. Withdrew from ABM treaty.

3. Said "No" to the World Court.

4. Will sign ban on partial-birth abortion.

5. Revitalized and inspired the U.S. Military.

6. Kicked butt in Afghanistan and Iran.

7. Told the UN -- to its face -- that it was about to go the way of the League of Nations if it didn't shape up.

8. Passed tax cuts, got the economy going again.

The Bush Administration, even with all those accomplishments, has not been able to take full control of the executive branch, because of Senate obstructionism by Democrats. (The judges are one thing; you should keep track of the obstructed appointments to agencies.)

The proposed guest worker program will never pass in that form.

The prescription drug program contains the seeds of medical savings accounts, just about the only way to bring that cost monster under control.

George W.'s greatest dream is reforming Social Security on free-market terms. He's getting there.

Heavens, what do you want? Bush has to operate in the real world. It ain't easy.

Conservatives have faced the fact they have no representation in either party. Given the coming invasion of amnestied voters that will lock the nation in perpetual socialism. We are smart enough to know our answers no longer lie in the ballot box and will not reward the betraying Republicans with the survival of their "Party of Principle".

If conservativism is dead in America, so is the Republican Party. Like the man said the nation is split 50/50 with half being represented by both parties, and the other half with zero representation from two hostile parties, with one whining for a lifeline to be thrown so they can live to betray another day. Some have chosen to throw them a boulder instead.

Surely the Republican Party can convince their brothers under the skin demonrats to share power, play a few games with the ballot box to keep them an office in the basement of the capital building, a seat in congress here, a senate seat there. Just to make things look legit.

I live in North Massachusetts (formerly New Hampshire)- I never thought I would say this but myself and a lot of other conservatives up here are considering voting against Bush.

A lot of excellent points have been made in this thread about how and why we should support Bush. He has accomplished some significant things BUT he keeps initiating programs whose financial impact will last far longer and be far more burdensome than any good from his temporary tax cuts.

We think his foreign program is excellent as long as he sticks to it (even that is looking shakey). But Bush's domestic initiatives combined with his yielding presitige and power to the Kennedys, Clintons, and the rest of the left supported by the REPUBLICAN and RINO majority (spineless Hatch, globe-trotting Dr. Frist) makes supporting the Republicans look pointless.

Bush is handicapped by his small majority but he has spent and sponsored legislation that GREATLY increases the size and power of the federal government in programs that can not and will not be stopped or reversed.

IF his grand strategy was to cut off chunks of liberal and Democrat special interests - from what we gather during 'intelligence gathering' excursions into Massachusetts and discussions with the mind-numbed robots there - it appears that the gain has been far smaller and far less significant than the price. Conservatives win by being conservatives NOT weak-kneed liberals.

While it is too early to write off the next election, next fall will NOT be pretty.
