I even had a can of Hanson's diet soda yesterday that was labelled "No carbs".

The nice thing about Hanson's is that it's all natural and has Splenda instead of the bogus Aspartame as a sweetener. I especially like the Ginger Ale. Nice and spicy.

Your common sense is not wanted here!! (off sarcasm)

I totally agree with your post, and I'm surprized it took until #49 for someone to flame you.

I work out at the gym 3 times a week for an hour. I am the only one on Low-Carb of the two friends I work out with and I can run circles around them. Oh, forget to mention, I'm in my early 60's!!!!!!

I agree. I have much more energy than I used to on my old diet. I don't require as much sleep either.

Guiness Draft Stout only has about 5.2 g of carb per 12 oz. Much tastier than those watered down excuses for beer.

Miller Lite has 3.2 g. Not bad, but I will still choose the Guiness.

Thanks for the info. I hadn't tried it yet, so if I decide to, I'll watch out for that.

Rolling Rock Green Light has 2.6 g/12 oz. It's not real beer, but it's better than Miller Lite or Michelob Ultra, the two very low carb alternatives.

Anyone have numbers on 'typical' pale ales or English-style bitters? Neither is particularly sweet, so I'm wondering what the average carb content is.

I've never been flamed before!

(Always happy to oblige)

Nearly four years on FR, and you've never been flamed before? What's the matter with you? If you were a REAL conservative, you'd have been flamed regularly.

People like you make me sick.

PETA bread is made from the carcasses of all those PETA members who have died from cardiac arrests, horrified at the success of low-carb diets, with the attendant increase in meat consumption. It must be consumed in moderation because of excessively high soy and sprout content.

This article has some info, but not much.

I would think that those types of beers would be in the 10 to 12 g per 12 oz. range. The reason that they're not sweet is that the hops balances out the sweet barley. They are high gravity beers. That's why in a black and tan, the Guiness floats on top of the Bass. You're probably better off just drinking a stout.

That's an incredible recipe, for 3.4 carbs per slice! And flax seed meal, to boot!

When I was a teenager and (briefly) thinking that super-skinny was a necessity, I'd get mom's cookbooks down and spend an hour with the photos of foods, imagining the flavors and textures. Afterwards for some reason I'd feel very satisfied, food-wise, and not needing to eat! Maybe I just had an over-active imagination.

If you're blaming Butter/Red Meats/Bacon/Eggs for clogged arteries, you haven't followed the real science studies (as opposed to the crap promoted by the bogus Center for Science in the Public Interest).

I just bought some at Sam Wholesale Club in Ft. Worth Texas. They are made by Atkins and are really good. I can get about 4 diff types of candy at Sams made by Atkins. The Atkins bars made like a brownie are the ones I like the best. I don't buy other brands. They may really low carb and sugar free, but I don't trust them yet and I trust Atkins.

My weight (embarassed to admit) is too high for most scales, so I have no idea how much weight I've lost, but after two weeks of Atkins, I lost 3 inches on my waist. I'm about two more weeks in to the plan now, and from the start, I've now been able to tighten my belt two notches, and my clothes are starting to look really baggy...
