"Because if the midwest disappeared tomorrow nobody would notice for a few days." Oh, that's cold harsh.

Where did you dig that one up? Used to be my favorite airline. Hated to see them go.

I'm still at the Emergency Ops Center, here since 1100 Sunday morning. We got iced in.
We've still got two counties in KY under ice emergency; nothing urgent, but support's going in.
We also had two red Cross shelters activated, but didn't need all the space.
We were lucky - not like NC, though. They're still under State of Emergency, and the NC National Guard has people out.
It ain't over yet...

*L* We got about 3 in of snow here overnight in VA Beach and my son got a snow day today. Might get another one tomorrow if he's lucky. Accidents everywhere and I tell you, the guardian angels are working overtime here. Two cases in point:
1) Early this morning a state trooper was working an accident when another car slides into him, sending him airborne about 20ft and he lands on his cruiser. He's in the hospital with minor injuries.
2) Later this afternoon some nitwit hits the brakes at a rail crossing, where of course the car slides partway onto the track. It gets clipped by an oncoming train. Amazingly, the driver only suffered minor injuries.

Hey which counties are those? My folks are in Spencer County. Dad said they got about an inch of ice last night.

Try living on the west coast. There is almost no weather news whatsoever except locally. We've got lots of snow in northern Idaho and a couple of times I-5 (the main north-south road from Vancouver BC to southern California) in the Portland area has been "chains only", but you never hear about weather in the northwest. We don't ever listen to the weather channel anymore - its only good for east-coasters. You are 100% correct - its all about the east coast.

Bullitt is right below Louisville. Washington is two counties due east of Fort Knox. Meade Co. (Brandenburg/Fort Knox) had the ARC shelters open.
EVERY county in KY reported ice problems, but these were the worst.

Snow is beautiful,, I do agree. My family and I used to live in Northern Ohio, we had the most beautiful snow fall you'd ever seen, acres and acres of a soft velvety blanket.
Then we moved to Southern Ohio, and Northern Kentucky, where almost all the snowy weather is icy and wet. It doesn't last long because of the busy suburbs and towns.
Living near farmland, and small towns, you hardly ever see sludge, like I do around here.
Nothing nastier than stepping in black/gray slimy salted snow! LOL
But your pic is beautiful Tony, I'm lil' concerned about them electric lines on the right though.
Thanks for the pic, and I enjoyed ready your "about" page!
Take it easy!

Those are sequential screen shots, so I doubt the weatherman would have time to change clothes and especially not while on the air. Notice it says 6:17 on both. One says Tues/WedPM and the other says BY Wednesday AM. :o)
