Vietnam Veterans Against John Kerry (apparently new web site)
Vietnam Veterans Against John Kerry ^ | on or before January 21, 2004 | U.S. Veteran Dispatch

On the campaign trail, White House wannabe Sen. John Forbes Kerry regularly mentions his Vietnam War combat experience, during which he received three purple hearts, the Silver Star and Bronze Star. However, the Massachusetts Democrat doesn't like to talk much about how he received the awards or the time after he returned home when he was rubbing shoulders with Hanoi Jane Fonda as a much-celebrated organizer for one of America's most radical pro-communist groups. This has a familiar ring to a recent conversation, huh? Kerry can't have it both ways and I think his bragging of his military record may come back to haunt him.

Which time of his life stands out more in today's climate? I venture to guess many people won't be comfortable with a guy who ended up doing what he did. War hero, my........... Well, you get the picture.

Three Purple Hearts is rather admirable

I got worse wounds playing softball in the Army.

Maybe of republics weren't so frigid, they'd get laid more often, thus releasing some of that sexual frustration that causes you to lie and kill for no reason!

Yeah...we lie like Clinton and we kill like Ted Kennedy.

Medals in Vietnam were given to those who deserved it- to those who didnt- and many guys who deserved medals didnt get them... imo

Your words could have come right from the lips of my Vietnam vet husband. He has told me this many times over the years.

Kerry served in Vietnam. He saw what that war did to American troops. Had Bush served, instead of going AWOL, American troops probably wouldn't be dying in Iraq right now.

I suppose that's why President Bush knows how to land a jet on a carrier.

Here kitty, kitty...

my brother in law got a PH in nam from jumping through a screen in the barracks and cutting his rear eschelon ass on a rusty can. Officers have a tendency to receive "I was there medals" that rank much higher than those received by the grunt in the field who is doing it so the lt can get a medal.

I give Kerry credit for serving in Viet Nam, and I give Bush credit for freeing millions of Iraqi people to live in freedom. Kerry made a public issue of venting after the Viet Nam War and now he must pay the piper for that. It wasn't very presidential. On the other hand, President Bush is a leader who has made contact with the hearts and minds of Americans and we want him to be POTUS. We trust him.

You cannot even survive a day at FR, while Republicans are staying the course. And please notice we are not wasting Bush's term in office defending immoral behaviour under the desk in the oval office. We are changing the world and making it safer. So long troll.

Yep. Hubby saw a Purple Heart awarded to a guy who ran into a tree on his way to a foxhole.

While I respect the service of all, how does that qualify as valor?

Conclusion: Medals are not necessarily rewarded equally.

I find it interesting that all right wingers ignore the fact that Bush lied about WMDs as being the reason to go to war with Iraq!

The ones that didn't exist when Saddam killed these people in Halabja in March of 1988 you dumbass.

If you really want to exchange views, then we can. There are more lies in your statement than you have even accused Bush of.

1) If Bush "lied" about WMD, then he is in good company, including the whole f***ing UN. There was never ANY dispute amongst anyone about whether Hussein had WMD. The only debate was about WHAT TO DO ABOUT THEM. Since then, many areas of Hussein's brutal reign were WORSE than we thought. Wanna talk about those? (rape rooms, torture, mass graves.) Yea...didn't think so...

2) Even now, the vast majority of Iraqis are grateful we threw the scumbag out. While there continue to be the occasional nutbag dead-enders blowing up car bombs or IEDs, the Iraqi police force grows every day, and we are preparing to hand over civilian control.

3) While Clinton's affair with an intern was deplorable, I wanted him removed from office for lying to a grand jury and suborning perjury from witnesses. It could have been about cooking recipes, it just happened to be about a lawsuit, NOT about sex with an intern.

4) "attacks Iraq, kills Iraqi civilians"...gee, so did Roosevelt in Germany and Japan. Civilians deaths and destruction was MINIMAL...in fact we probably took too many risks to our own people to avoid Iraqi deaths and destruction. Many feel if we had been more destructive, that we would be seeing less resistance. I disagree.

Anyway, those of us to who talk to GIs coming back from being in country, and I have spoken to many, keep hearing that, while things aren't perfect, the everyday Iraqi is grateful to us for getting rid of this dictator.

You call yourself an "ArmyDemocrat." Used to be when Democrats knew that the DICTATORS were the bad guys, not the presidents who were willing to oust them.

And as for assigning our motives to sexual frustration, that says more about your warped sense of reality than about the fine patriots who inhabit this forum. You will get kinder treatment than your insults suggest you deserve.

Army and a Democrat...if you are what your handle suggests, you must lead a miserable life....the few Dems I knew in the Army were during Clinton's term, and they all had his moral character.

I got no problem with what Kerry did. In fact, I have no problem with those who went to Canada, or those who deserted. At least they took a stand. That's more than I can say for x42. Clinton had his cake and ate it too. He never paid a price and, in my mind, gave up the moral right to be the Commander in Chief. Kerry, as far as I know, broke no laws. He may have had ulterior motives, but he was exercising his constitutional rights. As for draft evaders and deserters, Carter gave them a blanket amnesty. It, too, is the law.

C'mon now. You know President Bush didn't use WMD as the sole reason for going to Iraq. How about the oil? Isn't that why Bush wants to go to Mars? It's for the oil!

Did you check out the site on Kerry? A war hero who was grazed three times and put in for a transfer home. Then he gets out early to run for Congress. Loses quickly and realizes that he must be against the war to succeed politically, so he switches sides. Just what does Kerry stand for? Important to know before voting for him. He is a loose cannon. I do have a problem with him. Sounds more like he is for John F. Kerry and nothing else. Bush clearly understands that he is President to SERVE us. Unlike the former Clinton who used interns to "service" him. Clearly this bid of Kerry's is more reminiscent of Clinton then a public servant, which when all is said and done is precisely what the president is.
