I thought the first LOTR movie was BORRRRINNNGGGGG. But, after hearing this I guess I'll have to go rent the 2nd and and watch the third too.

From the article: "The actor's over-the-top views". Ah, so now taking census results and projecting them out 50 years is over the top.

All it takes is one with a phone and a computer....

Oops.. forgot. Technology is the spawn of the Great Satan, so I guess it should read..."all it takes is one with a pubescent boy toy that has a computer and a working phone...".

Already Posted -- this is a duplicate thread

So? If it hadn't been posted again, I, and many like me wouldn't have seen it, unless we went back digging through 24 hours of posts, not even knowing what to look for, because we hadn't seen it in the news. I didn't even know it was posted before and it doesn't matter. I am glad to have read it now.

Outraged Islamic leaders ...

Let them be "outraged." Let them. I don't care about their demonized tantrums. We all should not care about their little demonized fits. Let them be outraged. Satan is outraged. Throw a rock at me, little demonized monkey.

I love America, a place where I can say goofy things and not be in fear of retaliation by demonized monkeys (e.g., these Satan-inspired Islamists).

True... but adding a comment to an existing thread, would serve equally well -- and would concentrate all discussions in one place.

It's the accepted custom of FreeRepublic to search for a topic or article before posting, and to avoid duplicate postings when possible.

After reading this article I'm reminded of what King Theoden said in TTT:

"The days have gone down in the West...How did it come to this?!"

"From it, we get real democracy. From it, we get the sort of intellectual tolerance that allows me to propound something that may be completely alien to you.

"I'm burying my career so substantially in these interviews that it's painful. But I think there are some questions that demand honest answers."

I've never found Democrats to be very democratic, nor do I believe the mentality of political correctness to be condusive to mantaining the freedoms that our forefathers fought for.

Wow, it's great to know that not everyone in the movie business is a complete idiot. This guy has made some intelligent comments. Unfortunately, the PC crowd will react as anyone with dogmatic views reacts to heresy against those views. It's a shame that expressing these kinds of thoughts is forbidden by the politically correct.

John Rhys Davies is the only star of the Lord of the Rings that understands its message. The rest must be truly phenomenal actors to make such a movie about love, sacrifice, duty, honor. and courage. Virtues which have little place in the multi cultural and politically correct world of cinema. Davies, it would appear was only acting naturally.

As long as people have courage to act honorably like Davies, The West, like Frodo, Lives!!!

Most societies can benefit from a good stirring of genes, but most cultures are tolerant of each other. I do not see Buddhists throwing bombs into Christian churches, I do not see Christians blowing up Hindu temples, I do not see those sorts of challenges.

I can't think of any religion other than Islam that does make a practice of throwing bombs at others. Most religions can be seen as taking a sort of pride in being founded upon principles that condemn that sort of barbaristic behavior. The root of Islam seems to have sprung from the idea that it couldn't exist without forcing itself on others by pain of death.

Oh yeah?. Name one thing...ONE THING that "Muslim society" has contributed for the BETTERMENT of the world?

The hope of this world lies in Western society.

Probably more than people might think. Millions of Indians, Pakistanis and Bengalis live throughout the UK, and many are Moslem.

It can't exist without the pain-of-death threat. Why else is the mere presence of any other religion banned in Saudi Arabia and proselytizing punishable by death (are non-Christian religions banned from Rome?)? They couldn't stand the competition! If we were to sponsor a major missionary effort in Iraq, within one generation it could become a Christian majority.

"His attack on Muslims and comments about the threat that they pose to Western society shows his ignorance of world events and the true teachings of Islam."

You know, these Muslim leaders might have a point here, but there is this
little problem of 9-11 in New York, coupled with an ongoing problem in Israel, where Palestinians have been blowing themselves up in the name of Allah, in order to indiscriminately kill Jews; not to mention all the nasty little things that Muslim leaders have done to their own people, and all the carnage and disruption that Muslims are causing in other parts of the world, to non Muslims.

So just what are the true teachings of Islam?
I believe that Rheys-Davies, like myself, has gotten the message of Islam, and no further information on the subject is really necessary.
