Rep. Dennis Kucinich Thows His Support Behind Sen. John Edwards for Iowa Caucus
MSNBC Live ^ | January 19, 2004 | Lester Holt

Posted on 01/19/2004 10:58:22 AM PST by smoke filled room

Rep. Kucinich of Ohio just said on MSNBC that if he hears from the early estimates this afternoon that he is not getting 15% that he will throw his Iowa support to US Senator John Edwards of North Carolina.

He did not comment about if he was dropping out of the race or not.

You are astute. I surmised as much.

Bush and Rove play a very deep game.

Perhaps that is why Kucinich has thrown his support to Edwards...to get people to NOT choose Dean.

Dean is a dream opponent, as he has an arrogant and off-putting personality.

HAve you seen the "one foot in the grave and another on a banana peel" cast of charaters that are shooting off the endorsments?? I'm falling asleep during their endorsment speeches. (Carter, McCarthy, Kennedy etc.)

When are Lautenberg and Mondale coming out??

" Looks like the Breck guy(Edwards) is going way left. "

LOL great Edwards description. But on the topic - it's "we Washingtons must stick together".

I predict Mondale will appear in New Hampshire.

Also Dukakis. LOL!

Good...let's have the Parade of Losers endorsing candidates!

Now the business people are saying that Wall Street is in a panic if by some accident Dean gets in! LOL!

Stuart Varney on Fox (I am glad they hired him): "Can you explain to me how if 250,000 jobs have been lost, why is employment rising?"

LOL!

Yes, but Kucinich's votes dont mean squat to Lieberman, Edwards is the only candidate that might tip the balance.

That's a good point, in the end I think Kerry or Edwards would pose the tougher challenges. Not because of there stances on issues but because most people are morons. If you're an "I don't really pay attention to anything in the world but still might vote" democrat, Kerry has a certain stature that may pull them out to cast in November and Edwards has the young, handsome JFK-like draw.

Either way I think W pulls it out in large numbers but anything can happen in the old US of A!!

I agree. Edwards is the one I worry about the most, especially after I saw the clip where his wife brought their children to an appearance. He was genuinely thrilled with the appearance of the kids, and even Miss Marple, who is cynical towards democrats, had a moment of good feeling towards Edwards. He is dangerous.

We are going to have to wait and see how stupid the democrats actually are.

Hope you don't mind my asking, but are you by any chance an Edwards supporter? If your answer is no, would you be willing to tell us which candidate you do support in this 2004 election and maybe even why?

Thanks in advance for your response.

I don't know if Dean will run as a third party, but I am absolutely sure that his supporters will go third party or stay home. They have invested too much emotional capital in his candidacy.

I liken it to the RFK supporters of 1968. After RFK was assasinated, most stayed home and did not support Humphrey.

Edwards seems to be an outsider to these factional alliances, as is Kucinich.

We've all concluded Weasley Clark is a "stalking horse" for Hillary and the Clintonian Sleaze Wing of the party.

I'm beginning to think, though, that Weasley may be more than a "stalking horse", designed to unhorse Dean. He may also be a "decoy", designed to deflect attention from Edwards. And that Edwards may, in fact, be the "annointed" one.

Recall how readily he made the decision not to defend his senate seat. He seemed confident that he would end up on the ticket, so there was no need to hedge his bet (as even Joe Lieberman wisely did).

I can only think that Dean has done something that has really ticked Kucinich off

He has. Kucinich has been mad at Dean for a long time, as Dean runs around saying he's the only anti-war candidate and generally ignoring Kucinich. They've had multiple confrontations about it.
