You know naught of which you speak.

put down the bong pal.

If she had not left her gun in the truck, Suzanna Hupp lamented, "It sure as heck would have changed the odds'' against the man who walked through a Texas restaurant in 1991 and killed 23 people, including her parents.

"I made the stupidest decision of my life,'' Hupp told an Ohio House subcommittee. "I decided to comply with Texas law.''

At the time, Texas prohibited the carrying of concealed weapons. That changed in 1995 and the state is safer for it today, said Hupp, who was elected to the Texas House of Representatives in 1996.

Such a godsend that CCW and even casual pistol ownership is verboten in The Big (Road) Apple!!

I mean, some overzealous "civilian" otherwise might have shot out a light fixture, ventilated a pile of corned beef, or -- gasp!! -- even shot and hopefully killed the armed assailants.

Now I ask you, where is the "proudly-and-publicly-packin'" and highly valued Howard Stern, Don Imus, or another armed NYC celebrity when you really need him??

Perhaps hiding or running out the back door and/or soiling his undies despite the macho gun blather we are treated to whenever we forget to "touch that dial."

Then again, all of the poor victims seemed to be of the same peasant class to which I and most of my other fellow Americans belong -- training, experience, and resolve notwithstanding......

A 15-year-old student shoved an assistant principal down a school escalator in Manhattan yesterday,

I know I should comment on the violence or something (not that I could say anything that has not been said before) but all I can think is "Schools in Manhattan have escalators?"

Charles Schumer will point out that the reason there are so many gun crimes in New York City is that criminals are bringing the guns in from other states, such as Virginia.

What he cannot explain, however, is why these criminals bother traveling all the way to New York City with smuggled guns to commit these crimes, rather than just commit them where they got the guns.

An honest answer to that question would establish beyond reasonable doubt why "gun control" does not reduce crime.

There was CCP holder in Lubys, the management prohibited her from entering the eatery armed. So she left her handgun in the car, and consequently had to watch her mother die before her eyes, all due to the safe, "no guns allowed" rule. Which to criminals means, illegal activities by perps are AOK.

That was in Texas, but there was no CHL/CCP at the time. The lady who left her gun in the vehicle (not a car IIRC, it is central Texas after all) was afraid of getting caught with the pistol and loosing her chiropractic license. Her name was then Susanne Gratia. She's now state Representative Susanne Gratia-Hupp. I've heard her tell her story in person. Both her parents were killed in the incident, and after all these years, she's still mad about it. However she not only got mad, she got even, with the SOBs that wouldn't let Texans have handguns on their persons for self defense. Every year she introduces legislation to improve the CHL system. This year it was a clarification of the state pre-emption law, which some cities were violating as "owners" of government buildings and facilities. The Legislature set them strait, the people are the owners of those buildings, not the elected or non elected "officials" who banned CHL holders from them.

When the CHL law first passed, you saw a signifigent number of 30.06 "No CHL allowed" signs (30.06 refers to a section of the law, but it's pretty appropriate too. Now one rarely sees them, especially after the counties and cities could no longer post them.

If some of the patrons were carrying legally licensed firearms of their own, the results would have been much different

16 people would have been shot instead of 8??

They must have been holding their guns sideways.

I swear to God, I was at the gun show today and some young potential ghetto warrior was there with his sweety.

He was checking out some POS pitol, and was literally turning it from side to side.

Corn lover - I am pro Second Amendment. But the truth is the truth. Ever been to Brooklyn, New York? Those people do not seem to present the makings of "A well regulated militia". Two men had guns which they pulled and they started shooting hitting eight. How many would have been shot if 2 more pulled guns in the other direction and returned fire? In a crowded diner what is the hit ratio?
