OK, gang.
Barring a catastrophe or another 9/11 attack, it's pretty much a given that President Bush will be re-elected in just under 10 months from today. That's been already listed here on FR today. And Jay Currie has a VERY good point. The Dems KNOW they've already lost this election, and are using it to position for 2008 and, God Help Us, Hillary.
Who do we have / want who is in position to run for the Republican nomination in 2008 ???
Given that President Bush would want to have his successor continue his policies, who you all of you think is a worthy successor to George W. Bush, and our best defense against the Hildebeast ???

I respect Dick Cheney a great deal, but I'd like him to step aside in 2004. Have Condi run for VP in 2004 and then run for Pres in 2008.
Normally, 30% vote dem, 30% vote Repub, and 30% are swing. Races usually go to the candidate who can get 51% of that swing vote. But every black vote for Condi is a vote taken away from the Dem. That makes a huge difference. Then it's 25% voting Dem, 35% voting Repub, and 30% voting swing. Not too tough.

The Hispanic vote will only be 7% of the vote by 2008.
The Hispanic vote is tiny because 33% of all Hispanics in the country are here illegally - and 33% of the projected increase in the Hispanic population will come from Illegals who can't vote.

The Honorable Congressman Billybob, of course.

Bill Owens (Governor of CO) and George Allen (Senator from VA) are the two names I've heard most prominently mentioned as realistic possibilities.

"Governor Bill Owens of Colorado"
As a long time resident of Colorado, I can tell you he has done a pretty good job here. However, I don't think he is ruthless enough to beat Ms. Hilly-beast. Owens comes across as a nice, fairly normal guy who I've seen eating at the Chilis with his family before (apparently recently separated from his wife btw). I think Hilly would eat him alive not because of any superior skill or point, but just because she can be mean as hell.
Just food for thought...I'd like to see Condi Rice aggresively slam H.C and her husband into the dust bin of history.
To: Salgak
Condie Rice, of course.

Condi is Pro-Abortion, Pro-Affirmative Action, and since she is pro AA I guarantee you she is weak on Illegal Immigration.
Besides that, nobody knows what her policies are on anything else.
You only run Condi if you want to depress Conservative turnout in 2008.

We Republicans are going to have to start grooming a Latino candidate for prez in 2008, if we want to get the majority vote.
That would be George P. Bush, but he'll only be 32 in '08 if memory serves me. Down the road though...

Rice and Dole! Now thats the ticket! 2 Fems!

Unfortunately I think GWB is clearing the decks for Jeb. This can be seen by the fact that he is not grooming a successor by selecting a viable candidate as VP.
I just don't think the American people are going to elect 3 people from the same immediate family in a 20 year period. To much like a dynasty. It would also be unprecedented.

JD Hayworth from Arizona and Condi Rice as VP! JD is a good conservative and Condi is just plain smart...
