Bill Owens (Governor of CO) and George Allen (Senator from VA) are the two names I've heard most prominently mentioned as realistic possibilities.

Haven't looked into Bill Owens that much, but George Allen would be high up on my list. If I was to pick a candidate to run in 2008, it would be someone who could continue to carry the torch on the WOT and do something about the illegal immigration problem. The economy at this point is a non-issue, 2008 is a ways down the road and it's hard to say what the economy will be like 4 years from now, but the WOT will be fought for a long time, and the illegal immigration situation seems to be inherited on to the next administration. Someone needs to stay the course on the WOT and put a stop to the illegal immigration.
