Haven't looked into Bill Owens that much, but George Allen would be high up on my list. If I was to pick a candidate to run in 2008, it would be someone who could continue to carry the torch on the WOT and do something about the illegal immigration problem. The economy at this point is a non-issue, 2008 is a ways down the road and it's hard to say what the economy will be like 4 years from now, but the WOT will be fought for a long time, and the illegal immigration situation seems to be inherited on to the next administration. Someone needs to stay the course on the WOT and put a stop to the illegal immigration.

I was hoping somebody would mention George Allen (g).
I'll admit I campaigned against him in his run for the nomination for Governor of Virginia in 1993, but joined the A-Team the moment he got the nomination. And been a member ever since.
And, on a personal note, Allen is the ONLY politician my wife likes and respects OTHER than President Bush. . . .

I agree - George Allen would be great.
He's been both a Governor and a Senator.
I also like Rick Santorum, and I like the suggestions of Pawlenty, he seems like a great guy too. And Christopher Cox I always thought highly of.

(I don't want the GOP to become a circular firing squad and the Socialist Democrats a majority.)
