Email/Letter writing campaign against The President's plan for immigration
Myself

Posted on 01/07/2004 7:45:17 PM PST by Remember_Salamis

Has anybody started an email/letter writing campaign in response to the president's proposed immigration initiative?

We need to show the president that he can't take advantage of his conservative base.

Do you have a date and page number for the Manchester Union Leader quote? I want to spread that one far and wide.

No desperation here, just simple fact. Grow up and take a good hard look at reality. Staying home is ceding to the left. If a democrat gets in, the war on terror will not be prosecuted properly. If you don't think there will be heavy jihad money invested in this election you haven't been keeping up.

If there are 8 million illegals here, kick them out. We did it under Eisenhower 50 years ago in operation wetback and there is no reason we can't do it now. Heck, if we put 12 men and 2 suvs on the MOON, more than a quarter of a century ago, we can kick them out.

We have a perfect excuse, 911. We need to take advantage of this window of opportunity. We need to secure this country and security without borders, is no security at all. We can't afford to have 8 million people in this country, driving down wages, destroying our education system and overloading our hospitals and prisons.

"According to CWO, your grandparents and you and many of us were stupid. All we had to do was sit around and whine"

Has there ever been a mass immigration to America that did not result in poverty, poor living conditions/poor health conditions and high unemployment statistics?

Does anyone think that maybe El Presidente is confusing the Texmex voter with the mexican voter in California. In my experience the difference is stark. Mexicans in texas are much more conservative than mexicans in California.

Or is it that the Gop leadership has become enamored with the Arnold victory and is trying to reproduce it on a national 2004 level?

I'd much rather direct my efforts toward a letter writing campaign to support the President's re-election. All your efforts will do is give encouragement to folks like Howard Dean and Hillary clinton.

A talk radio caller a couple of days ago said something to the effect that the reverse process is happening. That is, Howard Dean's careening off to the far-left and scaring the center-left is inspiring Bush to try to move into the center-left vacuum Dean is leaving behind.

If it had it had better retreat, re-think, re-plan, re-strategise and regroup.

Governor -- then candidate -- Swarzenegger made a courageous and principled stand on such aspects of the criminal alien nightmare as presented themselves during his campaign -- and won most legal immigrants' votes!

This is a national issue, and with marginal due respect, I don't care where the FREEP any of you all live.

That must hurt FITZ. The Great Fufkin, has only "marginal" respect for you. LOL. Geez, you had better get with the program and embrace Mr. Bush's Amnesty for Illegal Aliens and stop being so critical about Mexico's Invasion of America or Mr. Fufkin will lose all respect for you!

Gawd, and I thought I've seen it all.

Hey there...how's it going? You might want remind everyone that Congress makes laws, not the President and point them to the Tancredo version of the bill. It covers everything from temporary border enforcement by the military to "anchor children" and employer provided health care. It's awsome. Thanks for your support of the President, after all he did clearly state that the details would be left up to Congress.

Well, well...if it isn't the perpetual Bush basher. Geez...I would think that an intelligent person such as you make yourself out to be would know that Congress makes laws, not the President. Once more in big letters this time so everyone can see it...

How do you pick the grapes and manage the Mexican illegal problem??

Aren't people complaining about manufacturing jobs going overseas? Aren't most manufacturing jobs menial labor? Can't unemployed manufacturing employees take some of these jobs? Pull our troops out of Germany, put some on the border of Mexico and Canada, and export the illegals tomorrow.

I agree, CWOJackson is a perpetual Bush basher. Not only is he a WMDead Ender, but he is urging appeasement to the invaders.

I posted that CWOJackson response was completely phony because he believes that the so called 'war on terror' can be won, but rounding up 8 million illegals would be impossible so we need to appease them.

That was pure political comedy (as were my first two paragraphs of this post), but I am unclear where you are going with your post.

Yes, I know Tancredo has some 'compromises' in his bill in the area of 'guest workers' and I consider his bill a centrist solution, however; the political forces that he represents have the best of intentions so he remains the champion for those of us who actually care about the real invasion rather than the fake one in Iraq.

There you go. You were a moment ago going to throw your vote away to a group you supposedly knew nothing at all about.
Well, I did some research and guess what, this group has grabbed my attention. --Immigration

We affirm the integrity of the international borders of the United States and the Constitutional authority and right of the federal government to guard and to protect those borders, including the regulation of the numbers and of the qualifications of immigrants into the country.

Each year some 972,000 legal immigrants and hundreds of thousands of illegal aliens enter the United States. These immigrants — including illegal aliens — have been made eligible for various kinds of public assistance, including housing, education, Social Security, and legal services. This

unconstitutional drain on the federal Treasury is having a severe and adverse impact on our economy, increasing the cost of government at federal, state, and local levels, adding to the tax burden, and stressing the fabric of society. The mass importation of people with low standards of living threatens the wage structure of the American worker and the labor balance in our country.

We favor a moratorium on immigration to the United States, except in individual hardship cases or in other individual special circumstances, until the availability of all federal subsidies and assistance be discontinued.

We also insist that every individual group and/or private agency which requests the admission of an immigrant to the U.S., on whatever basis, be required to commit legally to provide housing and sustenance for such immigrants, bear full responsibility for the economic independence of the immigrants, and post appropriate bonds to seal such covenants.

The Constitution Party demands that the federal government restore immigration policies based on the practice that potential immigrants will be disqualified from admission to the U.S. if, on the grounds of health, criminality, morals, or financial dependence, they would impose an improper burden on the United States, any state, or any citizen of the United States.

We oppose the provision of welfare subsidies and other taxpayer-supported benefits to illegal aliens, and reject the practice of bestowing U.S. citizenship on children born to illegal alien parents while in this country.

We oppose any extension of amnesty to illegal aliens.

We oppose bilingual ballots. We insist that those who wish to take part in the electoral process and governance of this nation be required to read and comprehend basic English as a precondition of citizenship. We support English as the official language for all governmental business by the United States.

What is stopping these people from making a better life for themselves in their own countries? They are trying to do so by taking their tax free pay and send it over there. It is redistribution of wealth.

My ancestors fought died for my rights here. Through each war and each turmoil. They landed here with nothing to their names, legally, from many different countries, from the very start of what would be America, and never got one hand out to get themselves going. They ended up as soldiers and farmers ,and in uncomfortsble living situations for the"American Dream" They worked, they toiled they fought, they paid. I will not forget that.

Freedom is not free to my family, why should it be to a bunch of illegal immigrants who don't care about , or fight for their own country, let alone mine?

Are they going to put their hand on over their hearts and pledge allegiance to this country ,to the American flag , and offer to die for the American ideals in return for this free freedom, for this American dream, for this right to feed their families?

I don't think so. They can get their dreams fulfilled elsewhere then.

There you go! You went from ranting about normalizing immigration status for undocumented immigrants by a vetting and security process to embracing full, open, and unfettered immigration by any and all comers! Who says opinions don't change?

For years, I worked in social services in N.Y. I was stunned to see how corrupt the INS was. Thousands (if not millions) of immigrants found that the only way to "legally" get into the USA, was to pay someone off.
President Bush has taken the first steps to cleaning up
the INS. None the less, we have a huge immigration mess on our hands. Poor people (and probably the most honest) sneak into the country in an attempt to become good citizens of this country and to save their families from the poverty and corruption of whatever country. Those with wealth (and probably the most corrupt and dishonest) are able to march right in by paying someone off.
President Bush understands the huge problem better than
any of us. God bless him for being willing to take on the matter. No other President has been willing to do so. To say ,"we are rewarding illegal behavior" is simplistic and shows
a total lack of understanding of the "big picture".
This is the first and only President in my lifetime that I trust to do the right thing (I am nearing 70 years old). I say, "God bless him!"

I see you were posting about the Constitution Party. They are okay in my book.

I had spent a little time on the Libertarian Party website site and soon realized I was in the wrong place. As a Christian, I have no problems with the platform of the Constitution Party. What I have read so far, has echoed everything I stand for. I am going to spend some more time tonight researching the Constitution Party. So far, it looks like it could be my new home. We will see. But right now, I do feel like a person who has been ( potentially )sold out by his President. I voted for Reagan , GW I, Dole , and GW II. I have supported the Republican party with my vote, and my money. But with people like Orin Hatch , John McCain , and Arnold Schwarznegger ( to name a few ) in the Republican camp, I just can`t keep supporting a party that keeps ticking me off. I hope Congress can straighten GW out on this. But I am not going to bet on it.

Good to see so many folks taking a positive approach to our President's efforts to bring order out of chaos. Send those notes to the White House and let the President know you appreciate all he is doing and support him.

Let them know that their base is with them.
