A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997. Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay, or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY
If you have a suggestion, or an idea, or if there's a FReeper you would like to see featured, please drop one of us a note in FR mail.
We're having fun and hope you are!

A Dream of a Lifetime
Our President's Pets
the Exclusive Interview!!!!!
Hello FR friends
.what a special interview I have for you folks! I was lying on the couch trying to decide who to feature this week
WHEN . . . the phonecall came. FreetheHostages and the DC chapter came through and got me an exclusive interview with the Presidential Pets
Does it get much better?
I arrived bright and early, just in time to watch our beloved president take his morning jog. The lovely Laura greeted me at the entry of the residence, picked me up and planted a big kiss on the top of my head. (swoon) Spot soon came out to greet me and we settled in the kitchen for a little snack. Great food and let me tell you she is a babe (right
you all thought Spot was a guy . . . NOT!)
Gizmo: Spot can tell I'm quite nervous
just don't know where to start. Imagine ME speechless. Anyway, I finally asked how she felt when she moved to the Whitehouse.
Spot: I was pretty nervous about the move and kind of sad cause I really love our ranch. When we got here I couldn't believe how BIG the place was. In a way it was exciting
so many rooms to explore
but
so different from my lovely home in Texas.
Gizmo: So what were the first moments like
your mom and dad were probably pretty busy and didn't have much time for you.
Spot: Actually, I started searching the house looking for tennis balls and bones and was surprised at how familiar the place smelled. It was as if I had been there before. Dad was walking around with me
wanting to make sure I was okay. I nudged him on the ankle and he said to me, "Well, Spotty, how does it feel to be living again in the same house where you were born?" Then it all made dog sense. This big house is the place where I was born on March 17, 1989. My mother, Millie, took care of me and my brothers and sisters before Mom and Dad took me to their house in Texas.
Gizmo: What a cool story
.so what does it feel like being "the first pet" so to speak.
Spot: Well
mom and dad are gone more than before
but they always have time for us and all the people that work here at the Whitehouse are pretty cool. AND
we all just love our military detail. There's nothing cooler than getting off marine one and watching dad and our proud soldier salute.
Gizmo: So tell me a little about your brother and sister.
Spot: Well
here comes Barney now
what a handful my little brother was when he first came here!
Barney: (running into the room) Hey Giz
here I am. Hope Spotty isn't telling tales
(hehe) get it
tales/tails????
Gizmo: Geesh!
Barney: I was born on September 30, 2000 in New Jersey and am the son of Coors, a Scottish Terrier owned by then Governor Christine Todd Whitman. I was a gift to my lovely mom.
Gizmo: So you were already around during the big election debacle.
Barney: Well yes
but mom and dad are pretty focused and they always found time for us and didn't let on if things were bothering them. Although Spot missed the ranch
I LOVED moving to the Whitehouse. All those reporters who tried to bribe me with cookies. I even lifted my leg on one or two of them. (I heard dad and Uncle Cheney call one of them something like Climber or Clymer????
.)
Spot: It was SO embarrassing
Gizmo: Well, I HAVE to ask
did you get a chance to meet your predecessors?
Spot: Socks and Buddy?
Gizmo: Yeah.
Spot: (Barney and Spot glance at each other knowingly) You know, it was really kind of sad because Buddy and Socks were really quite nice. It was obvious that they were quite lonely and didn't get much love or attention. You could tell that they envied the obvious love bestowed on us from mom and dad.
Barney: Socks was really happy when they gave her away.
Spot: We were really sad to hear that Buddy was hit by the car.
Barney: (with a devilish grin) Except he's much better off up at Rainbow Bridge and you know that he won't have to worry about Bill and Hillary following them there. Where they will end up is NO PLACE CLOSE TO OUR BELOVED RAINBOW BRIDGE!!!!!!!
Spot: Now Barney
mom, dad AND GRANDPA BUSH would not want you talking that way!
Dutchess: H...E...L...L...O...from Rainbow Bridge. Tell you what Finest friends and FRPets on earth...it is pretty cool up here....Gosh we have Weinie...Ginger....and even Buddy...wow...the stories we could tell...but those we'll save for a later day....Back to you Giz....
Gizmo: Awe Codee...thanks for stopping in....we sure do miss you...BUT...know you are in a better place..."Someday" we'll be together...doo doo doo doo doo"
Codee: Geesh....some things never change....off to play with my newfound friends...see ya all later!
(suddenly India slinks into the room for a bite of food)
India: Hey Gizmo, I heard you were visiting.
Gizmo: Hey India. So what's it like for you living in the Whitehouse.
India: Pretty cool
I spend most of my time playing hide-n-seek with the staff, hanging in the library
mom and my favorite room, or sleeping under the bed.
Gizmo: So
how'd you get your name? I read somewhere that the "Indians" found it offensive that you were named after them.
India: Another example of political correctness run amuck. Actually my nickname is Willie. I was named after former Texas Ranger baseball player, Ruben Sierra, who was called "El Indio"
Gizmo: Just then Laura returns, says it's getting late and invites me to spend the night. She puts me on her lap and starts reading "Hank the Cowdog" . . . Spots favorite book. Oh what a wonderful day this has been.
Gizmo: Sigh
I'll enjoy spending the night on lovely Laura's lap
.
LATER THAT MORNING . . . .
FredtheCat: Hey Gizzy
wake up
we must have fallen asleep on the couch
come on
it's time to go to bed
.Gosh
you've been sleeping for hours!!!!
Gizmo: (sigh)
.you mean
oh darn
it was just a dream
.no
it can't be
it seemed so real!!!!
FredtheCat: Gizmo
.what this
.how on earth did you ever get in a picture with our President and Spot and Barney???? How in the world???????
Gizmo: (grin)
.On the Finest....all things are possible
..
So here you have it Finest Friends. Hope you enjoy this week's edition of All Creatures Great and Small! As for me...I'm going to take a nap and re-live this wonderful day!

The problem with this dream sequence thing...mom plants these girlie girlie dreams on me....Oh, the humiliation, Gizmo. I bet Fido, Rover and the rest of the boys give you a hard time about this. :-(
P.S. Mom is really happy now that they have this spell check thing....said it was going to really put a damper on your visits here :o)
I have the utmost confidence that even with a spellchecker there will be more than enough errors to keep me busy. :-)

Miss D...such a dose of sugar you give us to start the day...that little Giz is quite the intrepid reporter...he can run circles around most of the media, even in his sleep.
Good morning and afternoon to our Hostesses, and Host, and to all the Finest.
Today is an important day...my Mom's good ol' hound dog, noble and loyal Barkley, is going to the vet for a little minor surgery. He's almost 11 years old now, getting a little long in the tooth, gray in the beard...just like me.
I had a dream about him last night...he feels very close, though he's 400 miles away...and, my fingers are crossed that all goes well, as I expect it will.
I wish all Freepers a verrrrrrry good day...)

Prayers that Barkley handles the surgery well. What a sweet picture.
Has Miss Lucy left your home???? And if so...how soon before you adopt one of your own??? (hint hint)

The cats are great. I have a couple of pictures of them snoozing under the Christmas tree. Lucy particularly seemed to think I brought a tree into the house just for her. LOL!

Hi, Spookie!
Dadgummit! I'm still on the rig!
I won't be off until about the 12th.
Sorry I wasn't there to see you!
To: dutchess
Yes, Lucy's returned to her remodeled pad, and I hear she's quite happy being Queen of her rightful domain.
Adopt? Oh gosh, I get that kinda pressure from all sides....maybe someday I'll give in...maybe...someday...my hide's too tough and scaly right now, though...)

Hi, Meekie!
Here's something I posted to Servantofthe9 on the Dementional Doorway thread.
I wanted your opinion on this. Am I trying to run away from this issue of the illegal immigrants.?
and am I wrong to still support the President as some on the immigrant threads would have you believe?
Posted by Pippin to Servant of the 9 On General Interest (Chat) 01/07/2004 1:10:05 PM EST #6,061 of 6,061
Why are you bringing immigration stuff here?
One of the reasons I don't go over to one of the immigrant threads is I am undecided about the issue. I'm trying to sort out my feelings about this issue.
All the hot debating over this issue is making my head spin.
Understand this is not a flame or any kind of critic about you, I understand how a lot of people take this issue seriuosly.
I understand where you are comming from but I don't believe you should just write off the whole election process for '04 just because of a single issue.
I'm a supporter of President Bush, though I don't always agree with what he says or does.
I still think he's a whole heck of a lot better than what the Democrats are offering up. Which if everyone decides, since they will never vote for a Democrat, yet they are dissappointed with President Bush: so they want to drop out of the election. I think you just gave your vote to Dean.
I know you may not agree with that but this is how I feel.
May God bless you in whatever decision you make. Have a SUPER GREAT year. :O)

Understand I support the President no matter what he will do about this or any issue. Unless he becomes an axe murderer or something like that.

The trick is to make the cat meow when your cat is near the computer.
Mine ran all over the house looking for that 'other cat'. ;-)

Oh, I support President Bush too. All the way. I'm not real well informed on the immigration issues so I don't post a lot on those threads. I'm not informed on that particular issue either. But I will wait to see what actually HAPPENS. We shall see.
Sorry I'm no more help to you than that, Pippen.
