My column this week calls attention to the Camp Pendleton 8--7 Marines and Navy corpsman being held in shackles with no charges against them as higher-ups investigate an alleged murder of an Iraqi man earlier this spring in Hamandiya. Excerpt:

Did you know there are seven young Marines and a Navy corpsman sitting in a military brig right now in leg and wrist shackles -- despite the fact that they've not been charged with any crime?

The men are in solitary confinement, locked in 8'x8' cells at San Diego's Camp Pendleton, as investigators probe an April 26 incident involving the 3rd Battalion, 5th Regiment, 1st Marine Division. They are behind bars 23 hours a day; family members can only see them through inch-thick Plexiglas. Military blabbermouths have told the press that the service members are suspected of kidnapping and shooting a man in the Iraqi town of Hamdaniya. The Iraqi man's family reportedly came forward seeking payment for his death as media hysteria set in over the separate alleged atrocity in Haditha.

These men -- our men -- may be innocent. They may be guilty. Charges may or may not be filed this week. But this much is certain: The media leaks and the Murtha-fication of the case are already taking a heavy toll on the troops and their families. The headlines have already convicted them: "Iraqi's Slaying Planned By Marines, Official Says." "Marines Planned to Kill Iraqi Civilian, Then Planted Evidence."

The national media ignored a protest by supporters outside Camp Pendleton over the weekend. Not a peep heard yet from the American Civil Liberties Union. The website of the self-anointed crusaders for individual rights contains hundreds of articles on the rights of al Qaeda suspects and an indignant press release on the suicides of Guantanamo Bay detainees. But no mention of the Camp Pendleton Eight. For their part, human rights groups were too busy shedding tears for the Gitmo terrorist suicide squad and lionizing them as "heroes" in the words of William Goodman of the Center for Constitutional Rights. Editorial cartoonists have been preoccupied desecrating the Marine Corps logo and tarring troops as baby-killers.

A clarion voice stepped into the fray this week to push back against the global rush to judgment against our troops. Ilario Pantano, a Desert Storm vet-turned-Wall Street banker and new media entrepreneur-turned-commissioned Marine officer from Hell's Kitchen, launched his gripping book "Warlord: No Better Friend, No Worse Enemy" this week, which recounts his harrowing ordeal as a Marine smeared and cleared.

This corroborates the memo discovered in April by US forces during a raid on a terrorist safe house, one in which an anonymous AQ analyst claimed that "every year is worse than the previous year".

Of course Zarqawi wasn’t really using the media. They were already on his side.

Nearly a thousand terrorist suspects have been killed or captured. The amount of information captured has overwhelmed intelligence organizations in Iraq, and more translators and analysts are assisting, via satellite link, from the United States and other locations.
Perhaps the most valuable finds have been al Qaeda planning documents confirming what has been suspected of terrorist strategy. Also valuable have been the al Qaeda assessment of their situation in Iraq. The terrorist strategy is one of desperation.

In this morning's New York Post, Ralph Peters writes on "Terrorist Defeatism." Drawing on captured al Qaeda documents, Peters exposes the closely-guarded secret (closely guarded by the western media, anyway) that we are winning in Iraq...If you haven't already read it, the text of the document recovered from Zarqawi's hideout that Peters mostly refers to is here.

In a post I did entailed WINDS OF WAR: The Face of the Future Conflict I speculated on what the war against Islamo-fascism looming on the horizon may look like. I still stand on the statement that ‘real war’ will start when the free world finally awakes from its Islamist induced slumber. When the war arrives, it will be succinct, clear to everyone and with a focused objective - as it did for Europe on September 1st, 1939 and America on December 7th, 1941.

Currently, appeasement is the order of the day in Europe. In an article entitled ‘This time the crocodile won't wait’, a review by Spengler of Melanie Phillips book, Londonistan, speaks of the hopes and fears of the appeaser. The brave Brussels Journal keys in with this. The number of rapes committed by Muslim immigrants in Western nations is so extremely high that it is difficult to view these rapes as merely random acts of individuals. It resembles warfare.

Not a single wire service or news organization has issued a correction to their blatantly incorrect stories about the “Hadji Girl” controversy, in which they parroted the false claims made by the Council on American-Islamic Relations, and probably damaged a young Marine’s military career.

Just over a year ago I wrote a post entitled Al Qaeda Tours and Travel, spelling out in clear painful detail exactly how Al Qaeda and other Muslim fundamamentalist groups get their foot soldiers into the United States. Exerpts of a new book by Ron Suskind reveal that;

Al-Qaeda terrorists came within 45 days of attacking the New York subway system with a lethal gas similar to that used in Nazi death camps. They were stopped not by any intelligence breakthrough, but by an order from Osama bin Laden's deputy, Ayman Zawahiri. And the U.S. learned of the plot from a CIA mole inside al-Qaeda.

U.S. intelligence got its first inkling of the plot from the contents of a laptop computer belonging to a Bahraini jihadist captured in Saudi Arabia early in 2003. It contained plans for a gas-dispersal system dubbed "the mubtakkar" (Arabic for inventive). Fearing that al-Qaeda's engineers had achieved the holy grail of terror R&D — a device to effectively distribute hydrogen-cyanide gas, which is deadly when inhaled — the CIA immediately set about building a prototype based on the captured design, which comprised two separate chambers for sodium cyanide and a stable source of hydrogen, such as hydrochloric acid. A seal between the two could be broken by a remote trigger, producing the gas for dispersal. The prototype confirmed their worst fears: "In the world of terrorist weaponry," writes Suskind, "this was the equivalent of splitting the atom. Obtain a few widely available chemicals, and you could construct it with a trip to Home Depot – and then kill everyone in the store."
The device was shown to President Bush and Vice President Cheney the following morning, prompting the President to order that alerts be sent through all levels of the U.S. government. Easily constructed and concealed, mass casualties were inevitable if it could be triggered in any enclosed public space.

The politicians, main stream media, liberal pundits, and academicia still don’t get it. They can’t seem to connect the dots. The gods of political correctness and the religion of multiculturalism have blinded them to the Islamist battle tactics being used today on the free world. They try all they can to interpret the Muslim world’s displeasure with the free democracies as something we did. Rioting, demanding and whining are caused by us and not signs of a well thought-out softening-up process carefully planned and executed.

Rioting over a few benign cartoons is the tactic of intimidation.
Demanding the right under multiculturalism not to assimilate is the tactic of infiltration.
Whining about being persecuted is the tactic of disinformation.
Apologist defense of the ‘religion of peace’ and ‘tolerance’ while at the same time condemning western civilization are the acts of appeasement.

Every belligerent through out history depends on the elements of waging war – and the war of Islamo-fascism against the free world is no exception.

A belligerent must have at its disposal:

Financial resources
Weapons or Raw Material to Manufacturer Them
Propaganda Machine
Recruiting Apparatus
Command and Control
Safe Havens to Plan

The global Islamist strategy fills all six of these requirements.

They have the financial resources and support of the oil rich rogue states like Iran and the individual support of sheiks and rich Arab businessmen in the Middle East.
With these resources they can give their jihadist agents an endless supply of weapons and war materials for them to execute their insurgency of the West.
The Islamist propaganda machine uses the latest information technology and their mosques to get the word out and generate support and encouragement for their cause.
And their mosques strategically placed within the free nations of the world serve another purpose – recruiting of believers, and command and control of their troops.
Finally, safe heaven for planning and communication are provided by countries like Syria, Iran, and Pakistan where the free world military can not reach.

Connecting all the dots and we see that the Islamist have a well co-coordinated, effective order of battle our politicians, main stream media and even our military to a large extent have little understanding of.

We better wake up and smell the Islamic battle plan or our attempts at appeasement will play right into the hands of the Islamist strategy for world domination.

In a statement, the US Army has said that a US Marine was killed when an explosive charge went off in the city of Hadithah. Additionally, eight gunmen were killed in clashes with the US troops. Sources in the city said that the US troops bombarded four houses, killing 31 Iraqis, and that many dead bodies are strewn on the streets. Meanwhile, the US Army statement said that 15 Iraqis were killed in an explosion that targeted a US patrol in the city.”
[This is immediately followed by a live telephone interview with “journalist” Walid Khalid in Baghdad conducted by anchorperson Layla al-Shayib in the Doha studios. When queried about the Hadithah incidents, Khalid says: “Yesterday evening, an explosive charge went off under a US Marines vehicle in the Al-Subhani area, destroying it completely. Half an hour later, the US reaction was violent. US aircraft bombarded four houses near the scene of the incident, causing the immediate death of five Iraqis. Afterward, the US troops stormed three adjacent houses where three families were living near the scene of the explosion. Medical sources and eyewitnesses close to these families affirmed that the US troops, along with the Iraqi Army, executed 21 persons; that is, three families, including nine children and boys, seven women, and three elderly people.
“Furthermore, the US troops threw their dead bodies onto the street and in the courtyards of the houses. They also set the three houses on fire, destroying them completely. Then, the US troops opened fire on a vehicle in which five schoolchildren were travelling on their return trip from school. After the vehicle stopped, the US troops opened fire on the schoolchildren, causing the death toll to rise to 31 Iraqi civilians, not to mention 11 others who were wounded, and the arrest of 21 suspects near the scene of the incident. The city is now under stringent curfew. The US troops prevented the evacuation of those wounded or killed from the streets. Even by the Guardian’s low standards, this is an amazingly condescending and petty piece on Melanie Phillips and her book Londonistan: Jackie Ashley meets Melanie Phillips.

The Guardian, you may recall, is the paper that hired a member of the radical Islamic group Hizb ut-Tahrir as a staff reporter: The Guardian’s Pet Islamofascist.

Someone is certainly “bonkers” here, but I don’t think it’s Phillips.
