The main article lists the May 2002 crash as a 767....however,

May 7, 2002 An Egyptair Boeing 737 has crashed on a flight from Cairo to Tunis. Early reports say at least 20 of the 55 passengers and 10 crew survived.

The aircraft came down in heavy fog and rain about four miles from Tunis-Carthage airport.

Airport officials in Tunis are quoted as saying the plane's landing gear had failed to open during the approach to the airport.

The pilot put out a distress call as he was making a second attempt to land and the control tower then lost contact with the plane.

It's pretty hard to make out. There's a lot of speculation about that and other recent threats on that thread -- you probably need a couple of hours to sift through it all.

the information about the plane turning back came out 4 or 5 hours after the reports that the plane had crashed, which was 3 or 4 hours after the crash

Yep, here we go again. Remember right after Flight 587 went down when a few citizens were shown on N.Y. TV having seen the plane blow up near its middle. All of a sudden, those reports were pulled, like a bad thread here at FR. This smells real bad.

CONTRAST that with the "trained eyes" and competant 'witness' from a number of pilots in the air that day that observed the activities surrounding TWA800 -

Well, given that there is a High Probability (according to the US government no less) of Islamic psychos using commercial aircraft to commit mass murder, and given that another Egypt Air jet went down in 1999 with its pilot yelling "Allah Ahkbar!" as he plunged it into the ocean, perhaps we might be allowed a certain hesitancy in swallowing the near-instantaneous conclusion of "no sign of terrorism".

I'm sure Flight 587 crashed in Queens a couple weeks after 9/11 purely by accident as well. That "wake turbulence" story sure makes more sense than a shoe-bomber.

... and I so much as admit this in post #58 (or so) - right now, we have *very* little in the way of factual information to go on, save some of the known history (inherent design/manufacturing flaws) of some of these series of aircraft ...

PART of the problem, right now, is a maligning, dysfunctional 'filter' called the press or news media - we get only pieces of the story and sometimes outright misinformation because of the highly technical nature of flight/flying/flight control and instrumentation systems/ aircraft mechanicals and on top of that we have other such factors as weather, people/pilots and navaids/communications to also consider at the right time ...

Accidents happen. I am just surprised that some of the wacko groups don't come forward to claim responibility (whether they are or not). If they are responsible for any, then it could be they are afraid of our retribution. Sort of like OBL, the Taliban, Saddam and the DNC were afraid to take credit for 911. Praise and Deny is what they thought would save thier behinds.

I think this is evidence that the Islamists aren't too pleased with Chirac's recent prohibition on muslim dress.

There have been world wide protests. Of course, our liberal media doesn't mention it. Chirac, the hero of the Left, has gotten a total pass. If Dubya had proposed such a measure, the usual suspects would be saying it was like Nazi Germany. But Vichy Jacques never gets accused of being a Nazi.

If you hate America, the Left will love you no matter what.
