A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997. Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY
If you have a suggestion, or an idea, or if there's a FReeper you would like to see featured, please drop one of us a note in FR mail.
We're having fun and hope you are!

~ Billie, Mama_Bear, dansangel, dutchess, Aquamarine ~

To Our FReeper FRiends: We hope you've been having as much fun as we have with our essays and/or spotlight on various FReepers. We thought we'd kick back on the weekends and simply review the features of the week. If you missed seeing them and want to say hello there now, feel free to click on the link to that particular thread. If you'd like to drop in and out of this thread today and tomorrow, please feel free to do that also. One of us will always be around to see the welcome mat is still out, and maybe even put fresh flowers on the table. ~ Billie

Mornin' Cal. How is everything in your world? Have the kids wound down from Christmas?

Good morning everyone. Have a nice day.
I am off to Ft. Worth. We are repairing my Real Estate Office. Someone broke into it Christmas day and stole my computers and torn my office up really bad.

My sons and I have a lot of work to do. I didn't have any insurance.
We dailed 911 at 7:41PM Christmas. The police arrived at 11AM the next day. They said they were busy.
Back later.

Hi Cal. Yes that is a recent pic of Lucy. She is doing really well. Although she is blind in the right eye and has some paralysis on the right side of her jaw, she is as spunky as ever.

I'm thrilled to hear that. I'm sorry she is has a little paralysis and lost sight in one eye; but dogs can be happy as can be like that. Unlike humans, they don't get depressed that something is different and just adapt. We could learn from that lead.

Going to make the kids lunch. Be back later.

It's very warm here in Dallas, had to run the AC yesterday and will have to today as well.

Really? How nice. I am longing for warm weather. We are having our typical winter weather here. Cold and dreary. But we are at least over the hump and the days are getting longer....not by much, but our spring comes early in the Central Valley. We should see signs of it soon....I HOPE! I am SO ready.

Happy Saturday to you!

NO! (help me) :(

LOL! Ah well, they will back in school Monday, right?

We had a very nice, quiet Christmas. My son and his family couldn't be with us Christmas day, but were with us over New Years. We had a nice time with them....and he does what he always does when he comes to visit. He upgraded my computer PLUS, this time, he installed all of our entertainment system components in a new cabinet that we got to go around our big screen. Problem is, we now need to use FOUR controllers and a cheat sheet in order to figure out how to get our TV, surround sound, DVD, VHS, and Nintendo game systems to operate. This morning I managed to get the TV on, but the sound and the channel didn't coincide. Finally, after pushing buttons on the different controllers, I got it working, but I don't have a clue how I did it. Technology is wonderful, but there is something to be said for simpler days, when turning on the TV was as easy as finding the "on-off" switch. LOL

It is truly a beautiful thing to witness.

Yes it is, recently a friend of mine was having a tough time with his son Brian, after years of drug abuse Brian came down with crack lung. Needless to say he was very sick and in the hospital for 10 days. Andy (my friend) got his father Ralph to visit Brian, now Ralph is 84 years old and Brians Grandfather, By the time Ralph was done Brian had accepted Christ and so did his girlfriend.

All to many of us have to hit dead bottom almost to the point of death before we can be saved by Christ.
Close to what happened to me, cept I had a slight problem with alcohol, been sober now better than 11 tears.

Maybe. If we are bordering on Red Alert, then a lock down would delay school. Amanda already had her game cancelled for today.

Four controllers? We can't keep track of ONE!. I would be launching the microwave and such by accident :))

Sounds like you have a fun system set up there. When should I expect a visit from your son? :)) ;)

Sorry to hear that your office was broken into. We had a similar experience with our business a few years ago. The police took a report and did a cursory investigation but the thieves were never caught. Our insurance paid off eventually. Even now we are still discovering little things that were stolen during the break-in. One of the things that they got was my handgun from my office. Isn't that great, knowing it is now in the hands of criminals? I don't have a concealed weapons permit, otherwise it would have been with me and not in my office. :-(

It's certainly not a great way to start out the New Year. Hope you manage to get your office back to normal with a minimum of stress and hassle.
