Brian Wilson on Special Report says U.S. Rep. Ralph Hall of Texas will be switching parties from Democrat to Republican. He is being pushed into a heavily GOP district with the new boundaries and he is known as a conservative Democrat. While it may not change that many votes, it will add one more "R" to the congressional makeup.

Umm. That's what he's done. He must run for reelection in November and had to file in January, hence, the announcement.

I don't see how it's getting more Republican, it voted for Mondale and Moe and just about every state senator and representative from there is a Democrat, (maybe even every one period), and they usually win elections often getting around 70%+. If a Democrat there is pro-life and pro-gun, they're pretty much unbeatable, and even if they aren't, they'll probably still win anyway (note the victories for Gore and everyone I mentioned). But I think the biggest problem is lack of good candidates, since just about every elected official is a Democrat. If the GOP could control redistricting it could be done, but they would have to make the suburban districts or the west more vulnerable as a result. And of course if Oberstar retires before 2012 a Democrat will win the seat and will hold it for another 30 years.

It's official ... the last of the Conservative Democrats has finally crossed over.
Zell Miller's book is required reading for all southerners who still havent figured out how far downhill the Socialist Democrats have gone.

"Sorry to take you to task for your remark, but you're dead wrong. I'm a Texan and would probably have better luck finding an albino armadillo tomorrow than a conservative democrat in Texas. I suppose Charlie Stenholm is one of the last "conservative" dems, but the rest are liberal as hell (and worthless)."
You are correct. The "good" Democrats have gone away. Ralph Hall was the last one who could be called conservative. The best description for the rest are either "liberal as all hell" or "slimier than a snake" or both. The Democrats in Texas are a wholly owned subsidiary of the trial lawyers now.

"So, the sheeple settle for a half-way guy instead of voting for a conservative?"
An ACU rating of above 80% is surely a CONSERVATIVE. More conservative than a lot of RINOs who wear the "R" label.
This guy is the only real Conservative Democrat left...
The other "moderate" Democrats from Texas are Liberal snakes who try to fool voters with a few votes while doing their best to undermine the Republicans. I mean Chet Edwards, Stenholm, etc.
... Ralph Hall is the Zell Miller of the House of Reps.
Glad to have him on board.

Good to know. Thanks for the info.

You bring up a good point. The sooner we beat their moderates, the faster Democrats become an extremist party that is intolerant and unfriendly towards any kind of centrism. There will be no one in their own party who can counsel moderation and they will go careening Left, out of control. I look forward to that.

Excellent! A (soon to be ex-)Democrat with honor, a rare trait these days.

It's about time.
In 1984, I asked him why not switch then.
He had some lame excuse.
(Probably because for years, Texans would vote for anything with a "D" next to it.)
Glad to hear he's finally come around.
Good ol' Ralph Hall from Rockwall.

On the surface, the new 4th District appears to be slightly less Republican than Hall's current district. The Republican voting percentage fell from 68 percent in the 2002 elections to 63 percent. But the new map left Hall with only 34 percent of his current constituents. It added more than 100,000 residents in heavily Republican Collin County and nearly that many from heavily Democratic Bowie County.

hehe ! Ever since this redistricting thing came out, I was mentioning that he should come over to the GOP since he votes MORE like the GOP than the 'RATS ! He was not in my district, but he wouldn't have gotten my vote because he is on the wrong side (RAT). I don't vote for 'RATS, period.

Sorry to take you to task for your remark, but you're dead wrong. I'm a Texan and would probably have better luck finding an albino armadillo tomorrow than a conservative democrat in Texas. I suppose Charlie Stenholm is one of the last "conservative" dems, but the rest are liberal as hell (and worthless). I believe there are still many conservative dims in this state, though few are in the congressional delegation. The panhandle, west and deep east Texas, and parts of the coast still have some.
