One is the guy running for the Winston Salem seat that Burr is vacating, who per FR press, seems to by dynamite. I don't know who the other black House candidate would be with a good shot.

"If Dean is the nominee, he will need to pick off New Hampshire"

I think that here in NH the "lunatic factor" will probably weigh against Gov. Dean.

The appearance of mental stability still counts for something in politics, in New Hampshire anyway.

(Bob Smith being the exception that proves the rule.)

The best analysis about the Senate is that nobody knows. Anyone who says anything with any degree of confidence about the senate seats in reasonable play, other than that a Pubbie will capture the Georgia seat, is smoking something. Granted, that doesn't make for good television.

I missed the show, and am not up on the details of the battleground states. But in a macro-political sense, there may be more Pubbie wins than currently thought if William Safire's prediction turns out to be on the money.

Safire predicted yesterday that Howard Dean would lose Iowa and do worse than expected in NH, causing the Dem primary battle to go on much longer than expected.

If that happens, it means that the Dems will be ripping themselves apart for most of the year, and that a reconciliation behind the eventual winner will be very late, causing many Dems to be still PO'ed at the winner (whoever he is) come November.

If a large portion of the Dems are still PO'ed at there own nominee in November, many may not show up to vote at all. This hopefully will cause Bush's assured win to have much deeper coattails than would have been the case if the Dems were united behind their candidate.

Just a little food for thought...

I have seen Carson on the tube. He is awesome. But the likely Pubbie nominee, Humphries (sp), is no slouch either. It should be fun. I do remember though when the most likeable Dem U.S. House representative, McCurdy, lost to the unlikeable Inhofe, in 1994. Granted 1994 was one of those vintage Pubbie years.

**"If Dean is the nominee, he will need to pick off New Hampshire"**

Question about NH, just for history's sake.

How did they vote in the Al Smith vs.Hoover elction?

I know that Hoover won by and electoral vote of 444 to 87 for Al Smith, but I am curious about the history with NH voting more on the rebel side.

Which is why I don't think they will vote for Dean.

No. That is where leadership comes in. Play the game or no pork. Play the game or no amendments favoring your district/state. Play the game or you don't get that committee assignment/chairmanship. Hardball. That is how the opposition would play the game if they were the majority.

**Safire predicted yesterday that Howard Dean would lose Iowa**

Fred Barnes also said that Dean would lose Iowa to Gephardt.

Ah, Bob Smith. At least he will drown in the Floridah swamp (he's running for the Senate down there temporarily for the publicity, until he drops out), to which he has moved to sell real estate (no change extra for the resident gators). It is good, that NH is rid of him.

Major Garrett talked about this........that if the Democrats don't coalesce behind one person after these first weeks, that all will be lost to them as a group. IOW, they need to come together to fight Bush. If they don't, the prediction was that the Dems will lose. (And my interpretation of that was lose BIG.)

Dean is very, very popular among our RATs here in NH.

The good news is, there aren't very many RATs.

Bush made it close in 2000, but it won't be close in 2004.

Bush by a landslide, over any RAT-especially Dr. Dean.

I like this scenario. I want the Dem primary to be long and drawn out. Make them spend their money fighting each other and in the process tear their sorry party apart.

Janet Napalitano as VP. She has certainly F'edU Arizona by ignoring laws and doing what she damn well pleases.

When she was the AG, she once asked to make it a sex crime with life-time registration, for a man to inadvertantly see a minor girl au buff (Brittney wannabe) through a window.

She also proposed making it a sex crime to relieve ones self in public NO MATTER the circumstances. For example, Arizona DPS routinely blocks a freeway for an accident, sometimes for as long as 8+ hours. Traffic lines of 10 miles are common. I have prostate cancer and can tell you for certain that I am gonna pee along side the road sometime in a 10 (or 2) hour period.

This carpet crunching b*t*h is a menace to the state.

It's obvious that Major Garret is turning into a first rate political analyst, especially since he agrees with me ;^).

I don't want Gephardt to be the Dem nominee. He's a southener and considered to be a moderate (everything is relative of course). He's also got the unions behind him. This would make it a very close election and Bush wouldn't have nearly the amount of coattails as with a Dean blowout...unless the Dean supporters stay home.

no...no way. Do not put bill o on the panel. The panel they usually have is just fine with Fred, Mort and Myra or a combo of Charles K., Juan and the other fella I can't remember his name but he has a big mustasche. They are all fine without O'reilly. He has his own show...let him stay there. This group with brit is just fine and credible. Not loud and boisterous not pushy. They are all nice to each other and polite. They can get their voices raised now and then but it is not a shouting match talkover like on o'reilly. We used to like O but...no more. Too many interuptions on his part. Besides, I dont' like the way he caves now and then when he has a chance to really nail something.
