All of the other channels in Dallas have the Rose Parade on, Fox 4 has Ambush Makeover. Go figure.

Fox 4 said that there are eight engines on the scene. Weather may have been a factor. It is foggy up that direction.

It happenen just west of Central Expressway near Forest Ln.

Fox 4 also reporting that they pulled one man out of one house and the other house was unoccupied at the time. Maybe they were out of town.

No report on the condition of the people in the plane.

No report of casualties... One home obliterated.... Fire department is making an accounting of people. They don't know how many were on the plane. It doesn't look like anyone survived from the plane.

Weather may have been a factor. It is foggy up that direction.

I will give you odds that it was a) weather related b) a VFR rated pilot c) may also have involved carb icing ...

A current visual observation out the back door shows a low ceiling; earlier we had drizzle and light rain, RH must be near 100%, temp: about 60 Deg. F

Sky4 (Ch 4's chopper) just announced that "ceilings are too low for them to fly and probably why 'they' went down" (live video shots have been from ground units) ...

FOX News just reported it too. FOX reports it is likely the two aboard did not survive, but didn't confirm that.

Here is some info from The Dallas Morning News ...

Small plane crashes in North Dallas neighborhood

11:17 AM CST on Thursday, January 1, 2004

From Staff Reports

A small plane crashed in a residential neighborhood of North Dallas Thursday morning, triggering a fire that damaged at least two homes.

There were no immediate reports of casualties. The identity of the pilot and the number of people on board were not immediately released. Authorities from the Federal Aviation Administration were en route to the crash site, on Currin Drive near the intersection of Hillcrest and Northaven roads.

David Look, who lives on Yamini Drive, three blocks north of where the plane crashed, said he heard what he thought was a sonic boom about 10:05 a.m.

"It did sound like an engine of a plane," he said. "Then we heard a boom-boom." Minutes later, he said, he heard lots of sirens.
