Why is Rush on trial here, without even any charges being filed?<>P> Because when you the host of a conservative talk show you are by default a big fat target. Rush knows this and knows his failures and successes become public fodder. I don't feel soory for him, it comes with the job.

Shouldn’t Dr Quack be the one being investigated for leading an innocent victim down the path of lawlessness and drug use?

Rush is a big boy and needs to take repsonsiblity for his actions, blaming "Dr. Quack" is nonsense and illogical.

This is the Liberal Lefts way of playing the game. Never forget "The Rule By Law" not the "Rule Of Law" and there is quite a difference.
Why does everyone not realize that is why the Democrats continue to obstruct the Bush nominees to the courts.
Simply, the left will take over our country through manipulation of the legal system and the bar.
Our whole system is contolled by lawyers now regardless of what one thinks. It is controlled from beginning to end and they say who can have input. The very laws that are supposed to be written by the people are dictated by lawyers.About 50% more or less of the US Senate is now lawyers. The Supreme Court consist of nothing but lawyers and the final say on any law is a lawyer. So where does the average "Joe" really have a say?
That is why come hell or high water we must never let them take our guns away from us. That is the last step to the "Dictatorship" the liberals have to take. They have taken everything else away.
Do you ever wonder why most of the nation believes in God,the Ten Commandments and yet you cant mention them in government buildings, schools, etc?
Yet some still think this is a Democracy.
We are all under the bootstrap of a Gaestapo and it will eventually come to fighting just like in the middle east, watch and see.
The principles America was founded upon have been cast aside and manipulated to suit lawyers.

>>If we decide to take her out of the office (with both legs attached) and look for a second opinion are we in violation of FL law for “DOCTOR SHOPPING”?

No.., but if you go to one doctor and get a 30 day prescription of pain killers and the next day you go to another doctor and get another 30 day prescription of pills and then another and so on, then you are doctor shopping and you are braking the law. Is that hard to understand? Perhaps you don't like the law, perhaps you don't agree with the law...fine, then work to change the law. But if the law is broken he should face the music no more and no less than anyone else.

I keep reading that Rush should take responsibility. OK. When has Rush NOT taken responsibility? I think he has done an admirable job with the situation. But when absurdities like the prosecutor and the like come along why should Rush stick his head in the sand? How is pointing out the outlandish tactics being used against him not taking responsibility?

Rush has to fight four times the battle any ordinary citizen would just because he is Rush Limbaugh. He would be a fool not to use his power to fight back. Rush is one of the best things that has happened to America and he now needs we who have benefited from his talents and stoic backbone to stand by him.

I probably shouldn't be responding to this because I expect to be flamed. However, here goes...

The example about Dr. quack is so far off the mark, I'm not sure if the writer is sincere or not. Contrary to the Dr. Quack example of saving someone from being maimed, the facts appear to be that Limbaugh intentionally went to Dr. #1 and said he has chronic pain and needs relief. Dr. #1 gives Rush a prescription. Rush then goes to Dr. #2 and, without telling #2 about #1, says he has chronic pain and needs relief. Dr. #2 writes a prescription. Then Rush goes to Dr. #3, and without mentioning Dr's #1 and #2, does the same thing, etc. This is "doctor shopping". Not what is outlined by the author.

I said previously I'm not sure of the writer's intentions are sincere or not because the example of Dr. quack is so far off from the facts as I understand them and as I outlined above. Comparing Rush's situation to the lack of prosecution of Brett Farve in a different state with different laws doesn't excuse Rush's behavior. Its no different from a child's excuse of "everyone is doing it". Saying Rush is being singled out because of who he is addresses nothing about Rush's behavior.

I read a lot here about moral relativism. To me, what's right is right, what's wrong is wrong. Rush didn't need thousands of pills, nor did he need to doctor shop. If he wasn't getting relief from the treatment from Dr. #1, then he should have gotten a second opinion, then a third or fourth, or as many as he needed to get relief. With Rush's money he could afford the best care available in the entire world. He could afford the latest state of the art care for his pain. Clandestinely meeting someone in a parking lot to buy thousands of pills is not the act of someone trying to relieve their pain because the doctors have failed to do so. These are the actions of an addict.

I hope Rush has found relief from his addiction and from his pain. I also hope he deals with his legal problems in a forthright manner. By that I mean I would hope Rush does not continue to blame everyone else for his own actions and subsequent prosecution. Rush should stand up, take his medicine like a man and move on. Rush would find that this would make the vast majority of his listeners extremely proud of him.

Doctor shopping seems to be far fetched to me

Maybe some unethical doctor would write script for $$$$ but shopping doesn't make sense to me

I can't see Rush goping to a doctor and trying to get a prescription for back pain without the doctor asking how come the docs who operated didn't give him scrip or asking how come he doesn't go to his primary doc or asking how come his precription wasn't renewed or asking to see copies of his records etc etc etc

Mark A. Sity obviously hasn't done the basic research of figuring out what "doctor shopping" entails before spouting off.

It's nice he wants to defend Rush, but doing it in such an uninformed way is not going to convince anyone except perhaps other uninformed loudmouths.

Totally Illogical.

If a crime is committed then punishment should be swift and sure. I think Martha Stewart said her prosecution is unprecedented. Michael Jackson says the DA has it in for him.

I say when you are a target don't give your enemy the ammunition to get you.

Rush didn't abuse drugs. Rush didn't abuse drugs. Rush didn't abuse drugs. (Ruby Red shoes; Heel click)

It is still a crime and should be punished.

Rush MAY have gooten help for doing the good... and that is why he is hunted.

If he had been like Ozzie promoting help to do some evil useless act of debilitation, then he would have been praised.

And the fact that the prosecutor is a democrat shows that the dems have no shame in their illegal conflict of interests.

how many drug crimes did this prosecutor not pursue? I bet dozens of them.

Rush's case for privacy of his medical records is similar to the case now before the Supreme Court regarding the Vince Foster photos. Interestingly enough, it seems the SCOTUS is viewing Allan Favish's request -- as one FReeper put it -- like this:

The questioning (in the SCOTUS hearing) at one point went like this: You can't see the photos because you don't already have evidence of murder. But the photos might be the evidence. Well, you can't see the photos unless you have evidence of murder.

In Rush's case, it would be "You can't see the medical records because you don't already have evidence of doctor shopping.

Those who detest Rush because he said a thing or two against druggies would like to see him serve jail time while at the same time argue that people who smoke marijuana (or do crack cocaine or heroin) should be free to do that without consequences. I'm rather surprised that they aren't defending his right to medical records privacy.

Isn't this case on the same "slippery slope" that leads to every American's right to privacy being endangered? What about the search and seizure laws that they complain infringe upon an individual's freedom? I would think those who are against the WOD would actually be supportive of Rush for these reasons.

This whole attack against Rush is idiotic. Rush has not missed a beat and has not hurt anybody but himself. When the commander and chief's brother ( Rodger) has been quoted as saying his brother has a nose like a vacuum cleaner I think this ram rod of Rush is a joke.

The saddest thing about all this is its ability to split up people of like minds.

I do belive most freepers are more alike than disparate yet we get caught up in this fight.

That just may be the worst part of the whole episode.

The clinton's found a weakness in Rush, perscription drugs. They've been after him for years and finally found a weakness. I bet that housekeeper was a plant by the rats to infiltrate Rush. Remember that "nice old" couple who "accidently" tapped into Newt's cell phone and recorded his calls? They found a prosecuter who'll act as they're lackey and they pounced. Of course their names aren't mentioned but when the background and voting record of these people are investigated, they're all rats tied to uncle janet reno and the clintoons. Rush will prevail but it's going to take some time and lot's of money.

IF the liberals railroad Rush Limbaugh into jail somehow,
assuming the unlikely idea that he couldn't somehow get a
fair trial, he would USE the experience to grow and rise
above it. - I think Martha Stewart probably would, too.
I don't know all the FACTS about either of them, but I
imagine they are both positive people who make lemonade out
of lemons. - I doubt that either of them will do time.

Stories like this make the case for more investigation. - Tom

By JILL BARTON Associated Press Writer Tue, 23 Dec 2003 8:08 AM

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (AP) Rush Limbaugh's lawyer said the conservative radio commentator was "bled dry" by a former maid who demanded $4 million and threatened to reveal his addiction to prescription painkillers.

Attorney Roy Black said Monday that Limbaugh could not complain to authorities about the maid's demand because they would use the information against him, though the maid and her husband eventually went public anyway.

I am personally appalled at the level of hateful comments around here about this subject. I don't know what Rush did or did not do yet, and neither does anyone else. Few seem willing to wait until they do know to proclaim him guilty, or innocent. Instead they resort to flaming each other and name calling, and pronouncements of things they don't even know are true.
