In all seriousness, this makes sense. It would destroy the economy of that city and devestate air travel for two more years. Now the question is, did this person get access to a cargo plane. God help us if he or she did.

In all seriousness, what is there in Vegas that a plane can purposely hit? And just how crowded is Vegas at this time of year?

Very much so. Just like that episode of The Smoking Gun (X-files spinoff) pre-9/11 where the jetliner is hijacked via the navigation computers and almost flow into the WTC.

Makes me wonder if the Jihadist ideology is trying to make a point by using our own cinema as prophecy in terror.

Didn't Atta spend some time in Vegas? I recall something about a coordinating meeting with the other hijack pilots a couple of weeks before 9/11.

A year after Mohamed Atta led the terrorist strike, we can't stop wondering: Why was he in Las Vegas?

It's June 30, a year to the day that Mohamed Atta slept here. "Here" is the Econo Lodge on Las Vegas Boulevard South, two blocks from my home in the heart of Downtown. Within these white, cinder-block walls, the spooky-eyed killer refined the attack that 10 weeks later would stun the world.

According to published reports, Atta traveled in recent months not only in the United States but to Spain, the Czech Republic and Germany, where he had studied urban planning for eight years at Technical University in Hamburg. On June 3, Atta arrived in Newark, N.J., on a flight from Prague.

June 3, 2001 would be almost two months after Atta's contested meeting with al-Ani in Prague. But does this mean records exist of his being on a flight from Prague?

It is packed from this week through New Years Eve. Not to mention because of the approach you have to take to land in Las Vegas, most planes are less than 2 miles from the strip. It would devestate the economy there and the U.S. severely.

With Xmas on a Thursday there are more 4 day and 7 day specials. Since more people are off 12/25 - 1/4, they had some great deals out there. Wish I could have gone, sigh.

Nothing is as it seems in this little vignette.

The cell that has been planning to pull off the "Trash Can Man" attack on Vegas has been compromised big time.



Because you can never be sure if other cells are planning simultaneous attacks, you issue the warning.

If the idiots show up, you bag and tag. Then try to obtain 411 from perps.

If the rats scatter, as appears to be the case, there is a world of very interesting intel to be found from their movements, connections etc.

Because we appear to have given sensitive info to the frogs, it appears that plan B might just have been the best case scenario. Very real possibility that one of the rats may have been turned.
