FOLLOWING reports of tension between popular WABC talk-show hosts Batchelor & Alexander, Batchelor was expected to announce last night that his three-year radio partnership with Paul Alexander is history. "John Batchelor will tell listeners . . . that he is going to host the show by himself," said John McConnell of ABC Radio, which syndicated the WABC-based team.

Yeah, those "who the hell are you?" posts cracked me up, too. But then again, I'm easily amused.

I was under the impression that Paul is gay. Not that I care. I loved listening to them both, they never gave into the scream fest that much political banter turns to. They always had interesting guests and killer music fill.

First Loftus said he 'knew' SH was dead, then he 'knew' he was in the auto caravan heading out of country in the company of Russians.

You certainly summed up the leftwing agenda of B&A......other than their obvious vocal support for Israel they were both as left as left as left can be.
The often allowed the most scurrilous slanders of republicans without a single word of caution or disagreement.
I agree that B won't be able to sustain the show by himself.

that is quite an incorrect perception. they are writers, from the NY literary community. they are supposed to sound like that. Paul Alexander is openly gay.

Too bad you couldn't get past their voices. You cheated yourself out of some of the most in depth, informed and wide reaching radio around. You'd get more in any single B&A show than in a week of Hannity.

the second false.

Next book about Dean or Clark? He wrote a Sylvia Plath biography called Rough Magic. Seems to going down the same road. It must be an affinity for the unstable.

they were both as left as left as left can be. That is why those virulent leftists, Frank Gaffney and Carl Limbacher, were on as frequent guests.

About their voices-----it took me a long time to tell them apart!! Both have nasally, whiny tones, and I finally figured that B. had a bit lower nasally, whiny tone than A.
I guess if only one came on, without announcing himself, I would have no idea who it was ------till now.

I had heard both of those guys as guests on other shows (individually) long before they had a radio show. I was impressed with both of them in that kind of venue, but the first time I heard them together on the air I thought I mistakenly came across a bizarre "Art Bell meets the Village People" show. Most of what I heard sounded like utter nonsense.
FWIW, I believe Paul Alexander was the guy who wrote an anti-Bush hit piece some years ago when George W. Bush was the governor of Texas -- after his article was printed (there wasn't a heck of a lot in it), he received a pair of Texas Rangers season tickets from the governor's office.

Oh yeah, we laughed at the voices ourselves but we listened to what they were saying and got past it. Their overseas sources seemed to be real and had everyone else beat.

I thought I might have sounded quite biased to those who have not heard the B&A Show enough to analyze it in it's totality.
"The Magnificent Seven" theme music cannot disguise the far left stealth agenda even with "High Noon" tossed into for punctuation.
Much like NPR, CNN, ABC, NBC, CBS, the B&A Show allegedly projected an neutral political or even a patriotic theme according to libs.
In reality B&A his behind closed caller phone lines and rarely had a true Conservative on the show as a guest.
John McCain was often mentioned as their Republican token, but never B&A mentioned McCain's CFR that ripped away Freedom of Speech from American's and handed it over to the largely left wingers like Lesley Stahl at CBS who claims she has no knowledge of anyone at CBS as far as there political affiliations and voting habits.
I guess Lesley missed Dan Rather making that DNC campaign fund raiser speech down in Texas.
Another bad component of the B&A Show is that they slide in a pre-recorded taped rerun segment of their first hour after Midnight before Steve Malzberg comes on at 1am-5am Tue-Thur.
Steve is a Conservative Republican who is not afraid to take hostile callers and lets the nutsies ramble and scream and often digs out info and statements from them that break the news that week.
Monica Crowley was often "used" as a cheapo attempt to fool the audience into thinking B&A was a balanced and accurate credible show.
A vehicle to slam and distort and rewrite GW's words and deeds and act as free PR and ads for the DNC and radical left wing pols.
All in all, B&A became "Progressively" more blatant and transparent in their recycled hidden blather and a chore to listen to.
Sponsors were/are not totally enthralled with the show being used as surf crashing on an island beach to put listeners to sleep at night.
Who is to blame?
I put this on the desk of WABC Program Management who approved the "no-caller" format and allowed it to drift into deeper waters and into the Sargasso Sea of pablum and propaganda.
WABC hosts all say they have an agenda, that they have a right leaning, but they take lib callers first up and B&A tried to "seem" balanced or even patriotic, but would not take one single caller and was unmasked as an anti-America Conspiracy-Girly-Man Show.
Who was that Masked Man?
.....not that there's anything wrong with that.......

Loftus as you said, insisted Saddam was killed in that early bomb/missle attack, but it was well known that the elaborate underground playground (built by German engineers?) acted as a buffer, much like an auto muffler, and Saddam was alive and kicking.
As far as that "caravan", my memory is a tad sketchy, but it was about high level Baathists sneaking out with tons of US green and/or gold.
I believe some Russkies aboard got bruised and Loftus claimed it was a Special Ops hit.
B&A had the unfortunate habit of mixing foreign live reports that were often vague and tortured with the Loftus "I know it all" stuff, adding some western music, stirring in a pinch of mystery.
In the end you got Art Bell and Donald Duck mixed together.
You came away without facts but thinking you were "in the circle" when in actuality you were getting SPAMMED with leftie "enhancements".
I know "Carl from Oyster Bay" would come on at times and others also, but the overall B&A Show fucus was/is intended to present a "moderate" agenda.
After paying with your time you found you had not grown one inch.
Sean Hannity, Rush, Steve, Monica, Laura all let you take your shot and dispute their comments and "alleged" info.
B&A flew under the radar.
The Twin Towers are gone.
B&A were no monuments to open dsicord and truth.

B&A never pretended to be anything other than they were. Two guys spreading their own brand of propaganda.
It had to be clear to event he occasional listener tht they were to the left of center on the best days.
As for Monica Crowley, she often bashes the republicans and thinks she's a military expert to boot.
With just about all of the media bashing the president I would hope that those on our side would stick to constructive criticism or explain how they would do it better, but we don't get that from any of the so called conservatives. They just want to prove they are more conservative than the president.
