It was announced on local t.v. this evening, that Brett Favre's Dad has died.
It was not known if he suffered a stroke or heart attack while driving in his car in Kiln, Miss.
The Packer organization has not announced if Brett will play in the Monday night game.
It will be announced tomorrow.
Our prayers go out to the family.

Why is the thread locked, with the reference to reply to a thread that you pulled?

That's a shame -- it sounded like it was quite sudden. Prayers go out for the Favre family.

Condolences to Brett--although as a Bears fan, he has given me EXTREME grief over the years!!!
To: SierraWasp
That's awful - I've heard him on the radio after packer games and he sounded like a great guy - a lot like brett, actually.

I've got my Packers gray tee shirt on, sitting at the computer. Am from Sheboygan, Wisconsin originally. Brett is one of the greats ever to to play for the Packers, a true iron man of football.
I don't know what he will do about tomorrow night's game, but I certainly don't blame him if he gives up the streak to be with his family. God bless you, Brett.

I understand the compliment, but it was also trivializing his father's death by comparing his grief to your grief over seeing your team lose a football game.

That was an inappropriate jest.I certainly didn't mean it that way when I wrote it. Although I can see, now, what you are talking about. My apologies. It was meant as a jest, but not even in the way it appeared to you, others, and upon a second look, me. Lemme start over:
My condolences to Brett...I respect him as a great QB even though some of his best games were against my favorite team!

Prayers to Brett and the Farve Family.
I'm a diehard Bengals fan, but have always been in awe of the Packers fan's loyality to their team in bad times and good.

Oh Christ it's obvious thats what you meant. Some people are so touchy.

It's nice to hear someone who isn't a Packer fan praise Brett's playing. A lot of people can't bring themselves to admit how great he is. Thanks for doing that - from a lifelong, Lombardi-era Packer fan (though I was a small child in those days, my Packer roots are that deep).
To the Favre family: My deepest condolences.
To: Neenah
Prayers for the Favre family - it sounds completely unexpected.

Prayers to the Favre family. Such a tough time of year to be confronted with mortality, yet, we are celebrating the birth of Jesus, and the promise of life everlasting.
