Michael Moore on Saddam's capture (BARF alert!)

Sunday, December 14th, 2003 We Finally Got Our Frankenstein... and He Was In a Spider Hole! -- by Michael Moore

Thank God Saddam is finally back in American hands! He must have really missed us. Man, he sure looked bad! But, at least he got a free dental exam today. That's something most Americans can't get.

America used to like Saddam. We LOVED Saddam. We funded him. We armed him. We helped him gas Iranian troops.

But then he screwed up. He invaded the dictatorship of Kuwait and, in doing so, did the worst thing imaginable -- he threatened an even BETTER friend of ours: the dictatorship of Saudi Arabia, and its vast oil reserves. The Bushes and the Saudi royal family were and are close business partners, and Saddam, back in 1990, committed a royal blunder by getting a little too close to their wealthy holdings. Things went downhill for Saddam from there.

But it wasn't always that way. Saddam was our good friend and ally. We supported his regime. It wasn’t the first time we had helped a murderer. We liked playing Dr. Frankenstein. We created a lot of monsters -- the Shah of Iran, Somoza of Nicaragua, Pinochet of Chile -- and then we expressed ignorance or shock when they ran amok and massacred people. We liked Saddam because he was willing to fight the Ayatollah. So we made sure that he got billions of dollars to purchase weapons. Weapons of mass destruction. That's right, he had them. We should know -- we gave them to him!

We allowed and encouraged American corporations to do business with Saddam in the 1980s. That's how he got chemical and biological agents so he could use them in chemical and biological weapons. Here's the list of some of the stuff we sent him (according to a 1994 U.S. Senate report): * Bacillus Anthracis, cause of anthrax. * Clostridium Botulinum, a source of botulinum toxin. * Histoplasma Capsulatam, cause of a disease attacking lungs, brain, spinal cord, and heart. * Brucella Melitensis, a bacteria that can damage major organs. * Clostridium Perfringens, a highly toxic bacteria causing systemic illness. * Clostridium tetani, a highly toxigenic substance.

And here are some of the American corporations who helped to prop Saddam up by doing business with him: AT&T, Bechtel, Caterpillar, Dow Chemical, Dupont, Kodak, Hewlett-Packard, and IBM (for a full list of companies and descriptions of how they helped Saddam, click here.

We were so cozy with dear old Saddam that we decided to feed him satellite images so he could locate where the Iranian troops were. We pretty much knew how he would use the information, and sure enough, as soon as we sent him the spy photos, he gassed those troops. And we kept quiet. Because he was our friend, and the Iranians were the "enemy." A year after he first gassed the Iranians, we reestablished full diplomatic relations with him!

Later he gassed his own people, the Kurds. You would think that would force us to disassociate ourselves from him. Congress tried to impose economic sanctions on Saddam, but the Reagan White House quickly rejected that idea -- they wouldn’t let anything derail their good buddy Saddam. We had a virtual love fest with this Frankenstein whom we (in part) created.

And, just like the mythical Frankenstein, Saddam eventually spun out of control. He would no longer do what he was told by his master. Saddam had to be caught. And now that he has been brought back from the wilderness, perhaps he will have something to say about his creators. Maybe we can learn something... interesting. Maybe Don Rumsfeld could smile and shake Saddam's hand again. Just like he did when he went to see him in 1983 (click here to see the photo).

Maybe we never would have been in the situation we're in if Rumsfeld, Bush, Sr., and company hadn't been so excited back in the 80s about their friendly monster in the desert.

Meanwhile, anybody know where the guy is who killed 3,000 people on 9/11? Our other Frankenstein?? Maybe he's in a mouse hole.

So many of our little monsters, so little time before the next election.

Stay strong, Democratic candidates. Quit sounding like a bunch of wusses. These bastards sent us to war on a lie, the killing will not stop, the Arab world hates us with a passion, and we will pay for this out of our pockets for years to come. Nothing that happened today (or in the past 9 months) has made us ONE BIT safer in our post-9/11 world. Saddam was never a threat to our national security.

Only our desire to play Dr. Frankenstein dooms us all.

Yours,

Michael Moore www.michaelmoore.com

I will never forget the most outrageous column Michael Moore wrote after 9/11. He could not believe that planes heading for California would be hijacked by terrorists to hit buildings in New York City.

He could not believe that the terrorists would make victims out of two states that voted for Gore

To me this is absolute proof that people on the left like Moore are delusional. They think Republicans/conservative are the real evildoers and they think lunatic Islamists would distinguish between Republican and Democrat in their muderous rampages.

"There is a great article the debunks this myth and explains the details in these tranfers."

Could you give us a link to the article?

I'd like to see this in print. On the net, on an official web site, would also do. I have a feeling Moore is twisting things somehow.

That is perfect... had zero doubt that the supplied chemical weapons was nothing more than a total lie but couldn't find the basis of that lie... saved your response in a text file. Thank you so much.

And this crap about giving Saddam Bio/Chemical "weapons" is a lie as well. Saddam never got "weaponized" nerve agents or biological agents from the USA. Everything he got from us was a cooperative (UN and Western nations) effort to help Iraq deal with the rampant spread of contagious diseases and viruses that were killing his people. While this did include biological samples of viruses, this was a standard practice with the ATCC (American Type Culture Collection) and other medical institutions as they sent samples to medical researchers around the world...so they could develop immunizing agents to battle these diseases.

I knew it.

Everything Michael Moore writes is a lie, including the words "and" and "the".

Here's one thread where I'm proudly posting without reading the article. Why on earth would any logical thinking person waste his or her time on anything produced by this unappetizing person? He is insignificant.

What's most important is to understand the simplicity of Moore's "thinking" (typical of the Angry Left).

We who believe in "good vs. evil" are always accused of wrongly seeing things as "black and white".

Decisions made 20 years ago to supply a nasty person with weapons have to be viewed in the context they were made in.

Was helping the Mujahedeen (sp.?) a bad idea because one of them grew up to be bin Laden? Well, to those of us alive and aware in 1980 the answer is a resounding "No". If you view this relationship outside the context of the Cold War then you are likely to have a different, and wrong, opinion.

Same with our relationship with Hussein's Iraq. If you were paying attention in 1979, you realize the menace Iran posed to that region.

No one with a realistic worldview expects to find lillywhite, pure as the wind driven snow actors to side withagainst a common enemy.

Oddly, the greatest and most tragic example of this was FDR and Stalin, an unholy alliance the Left seems to have forgotten.

I shut a liberal up when he started that stuff about Saddam being a former friend. I ask him who was our best ally in this war was? He said Britian. I reminded him we fought 2 wars against Britian. Then I asked him who was most against us now in Europe? He said France. I reminded him France was our best ally against Britian in one of those wars. He got the worst look on his face & never said another word.

"Please, somebody do the world a huge favor and put Moore into a spider hole and seal it up. Permanently. "

Wow. I read that...and then I read your tagline that says "Rejoice in the love God has shown by sending His Son to live among us and in our hearts.". Wishing for some harmless, idiotic loudmouth like Moore to be killed isn't very Christian. As Repubs, we should rise above the vitriole of the maniacal left, rather than join their anti-life wishes.

Besides, wouldn't it be more fun to see Moore roundly laughed at and discredited publicly, rather than locked away forever?

No, Mike, at least we don't yet know where he is. I noticed you didn't mention any of these people in your filthy diatribe:

Or these people:

Or this person:

But, as you've already noticed, the man responsible for THIS, well, "We Got Him"! You Jacka$$.

I actually saved the text, without the link, to my e-mail box (Webtv). I think you can find it by Googling "ATCC"...were one of the researchers actually wrote the article. It took me a couple weeks to put the stuff together from different sources, including a letter from the World Health Organization, that responded to the health crisis in Iraq and how these transfers were for medical reasons. I'll still try to find the link, but its out there if you dig.

PS. There is a big difference between a live virus and a weaponized agent. It takes a lot of money and research to stabilize that virus...and prepare it for use as a weapon. Anthrax, in its natural form, is practically useless as a wide-range weapon and must be specially prepared if it is to be used as a WMD. This is not an easy process and takes a lot of money and know-how. The USA NEVER gave Saddam instructions on how to weaponize these agents.
