Hitlary never appears when Bush is on an up (unless by accident). She will issue a written statement as obligated but not appear on camera.

"I had to go shovel eight inches of snow off my 91 year old neighbor's driveway, so I had to miss it..."
Oh, sure, make me feel bad about being irritated at having to kick a few leaves off the driveway this morning!
If it makes you feel any better, the temp here just north of Los Angeles is down to the high 60's, and it looks like we might get a little precipitation this afternoon.
What's it like to live in a place that has seasons???
Stay warm.

This is critical. The Syrians are now in the same position Saddam was in a few years ago. It has to be quite frightening to Assad. Today's capture will serve to drive the message home.
I have had the same thought. By now, those leaders that are supporting terrorist must realize that President Bush is serious. They must also realize their old friends (in old Europe) are not going to be able to help them. Finally, they must also realize if and when President Bush goes on TV and tells them they have 48 hours to get out town, they better leave. President Bush is not bluffing.
Those nations that are providing the support that terrorist need to operate have their own reason for doing so. We are not going to convince them to like us, but at this point in time, they only need to be convinced that if they continue to provide support for terrorist, they will become a target for the United States military, and any idea that they would win in such a confrontation is vanishing.
This is not Viet Nam. This is not Somalia. The American Forces are there to do a job, and they will do it.
The world as we knew it changed on 9/11, and it is just taking some a little longer to realize it. The next few months should prove interesting

Congratulations to our troops, President Bush and his staff on jobs well done with regard to this effort. This is a great event for the Iraqi people.

If the economy continues to rebound and the job creation takes off, Dean's name will be a forgotten footnote in history by mid-November 2004. Good riddance!

What's it like to live in a place that has seasons??? Back-breaking. His driveway was about 4,000 sq. ft. Ugh! But, it's a great day!
But, somebody ought to start a thread to compile all examples today of disgusting, evil liberal spinning on ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, etc. It was disgusting from the very beginning of the news of the capture.
An example; "Time Magazine columnist Joe Klein suggested that another 9/11 attack could revitalize Democrat hopes of defeating Bush next November. "This election, more than any other I've covered, is out of the hands of the politicians and in the hands of the events that take place in the world," he noted. "All it would take, God forbid, would be one [domestic terrorist attack] - not even on the level of the World Trade Center. You know, say they take out an elementary school or a movie theater or a shopping mall. "That could change everything," Klein predicted.
Klein was almost outrightly asking for something awful to happen, just for the Democrats. Somebody start a thread where any freeper who witnessed this stuff, writes it down. It was pathetic!! It would make a very illuminating thread!

I'm wondering if France, Germany or Russia wants to assasinate Saddam rather than have him spill his guts, which he is obviously ready to do. Syria, no doubt, has the most to lose. The case to depose the Syrian regime is being built and Saddam will be the chief witness against them. We have good reason to get Saddam in a secure location out of Iraq.

"I don't know how they will spin this yet, but we do know that they will, and that it will be negative somehow. Already CNN said it wouldnt' matter to the Iraqi people. Jerks!"
I can tell you what they'll spin it to... they'll say that now that we have saddam, there is no reason to keep troops in iraq and that we should pull out and hand everything over to the UN. When we stay in Iraq anyway and continue getting rid of the rest of the attackers left there, they will whine and moan that we should've left when saddam was captured. (just wait, that'll surely be the big argument)

Mo......sweetie listen to me ......turn off CNN.

Much of the world can't turn off CNN. It is all they have.
CNNeurope had a prominent interview with Christina Amamanamanapour (whatever sic), she was going out of her way to bash, and diminish the success. Not constructive criticism. Just downright anger to establish that this capture means nothing.
This is going to be reported with the most backhanded complements you can imagine.

People in the coalition and in the streets of Iraq did not expect Saddam Hussein to be captured alive. Now that he has been captured in an apparently humiliating way, we see this rather tired old man with a long beard from his many days on the run. People are really surprised to see this man who set himself up for so many years as the strong man of this country, who ruled it with an iron fist - the supreme dictator - now reduced to hiding in a hole in the ground. This will definitely take the wind out of the sails of the Saddam dead enders still hoping for a return to power. This is exactly the image of Saddam that will reduce him from the most feared to the most despised in Iraqi eyes and the minds of the Muslim world.
A great day for the future of Iraq and her citizens.

Agreed. Especially about the assasination angle. The fact that he gave up without a fight, and did not kill himself, is all you need to know about Saddam. He is a coward. He cannot avoid the hang man's noose, but he is too afraid but to follow the path that will lead him there and straight to hell. He will sing like a canary. If he followed his own propaganda, he would have gone out in a blase of glory to secure his own place in Muslim history as a great leader. Instead, well you have seen the pictures. That is how he will be remembered. Until the post execution pictures show up.

Agreed. The intel against Syria has secured them the next spot on the list. Democratizing Syria, and from that Lebanon, will greatly secure Israel and have a profound impact on a settlement between Israel and the Pali Arabs.
