Conservatives are now the "Blacks" of the Republican Party

In a discussion on this thread Tom Ridge's Immigration Remarks Draw Fire a post regarding the conservative angst about the recent campaign finance reform that Bush signed into law and that the Supreme Court approved (and the approval was praised by the White House), on the heals of the Medicare entitlement enacted under a Republican controlled government the following was posted:

I'm hearing Rush now. He claims the republicans have ONLY one party to go to. He has put this issue squarely on the problem. We need to vote outside of this corrupt party apparatus.

I also heard this on Rush and my blood boiled. Rush said conservatives have no place else to go and thus will continue to vote as a block to the Republicans.....and then it hit me. That is exactly what we conservatives lament about Blacks and the Democratic party. Black Democrats who vote straight Democratic and are rewarded by being ignored.

In other words, Conservatives are now the "Blacks" of the Republican Party!!!

I urge the same solution to Republican conservatives that Black conservatives offer to Black Democrats. QUIT! Become independents and let the parties fight for our votes. If we can't take the GOP back we should leave the GOP.

I did not change. My party did. I thank God Ronald Reagan is unable to comprehend what is happening to the party he saved.

Your argument is that they realize they lost their base in the '92 election and just gave up? The rational response to losing your base would have been to stop pissing off your base! The truth is that the Republican party is too stupid to realize their mistake in the '92 election.

Mega bump!

Picking between George W. Bush and Howard Dean to be President is like picking between Michael Jackson and Jeffrey Dahmer to babysit your kids. Yeah, the better choice is obvious, but you'd be insane to be satisfied with it.

I'm not a political conservative and have never pretended to be one. So much for that particular lie.

Then why are you trolling this website ?

It is a conservative forum and you are a troll.

Just because I and other see things differently (clearer?) than you, does not mean we are wasted, idiots or anything else. If you can't handle that, I think you need to go back into the service. There you can spout your treason, cowardice, etc. BS all you want. You can have that feeling of power again when you tell someone to "drop and give me 50" and they do it. Don't expect me to do what you want. If I don't think Bush earned my vote, he won't get it. By the way, just because people are talking about changing to an independant party does not mean Bush or whoever will not get their vote.

Now go back to your bunker and polish your shoes and buckles.

No, they probably feel that too many conservatives might put ideology ahead of country, party....and they are looking at the broader electorate.

The rational response to losing your base would have been to stop pissing off your base!

Again, much of that "base" do not consider themseves to be republicans and being pissed off is part of their nature.

The truth is that the Republican party is too stupid to realize their mistake in the '92 election.

Wrong. I think the axiom, "It's the voters, stupid.", would be applicable to '92 (and every other election).

Actually, I have written a number of explanatory notes to them in the past when I thought that I had something important to comment on or suggest. I've never received ANY recognition of my letters to them. In fact, when they have called my residence as of late, I have asked repeatedly whether the caller/solicitor/nameless telemarketer would like to give an explanation to the queries/comments I had made in my letter to the RNC...........No response to question usually follows, but I "can still make a donation".

I have come to the conclusion the my $25/quarter donation to FREE REPUBLIC is more worthwhile and effective in the promotion of a Conservative agenda than donating to the RNC.

I have been posting to this website since 1998 and most people here know I have a libertarian view of political life. I am a conservative person in my personal beliefs.

None of this is any of your business BTW and if you are going to cry to the mods, you might want to be careful that they don't look into all the posts where you called a variety of posters cowards and traitors.

It is a conservative forum and you are a troll.

And the GOP is leaving conservatives for leftier fields. And since this is "A Conservative News Forum", shouldn't you, too, troll somewhere else?

Do you even know the definition of racism? It's the belief that one race is superior to another.

True.

Do you see anything like that here?

Yes. The underlying connotation is that of being stupid. The "where else are you gonna go" analogy can be made using something else.

Amazing, I am truely amazed at your powers to tell how we voted. You are so off, maybe you should get a tune up. I voted Republican for your information. Don't ever claim to know how I vote or anything else, the only one that knows how I think is God. I am called looscnnn for a reason, no one tells me how to think, vote or anything else. Enough of your BS.

Somehow the libertarian, smaller government branch of the GOP (many of us), need to figure out how to get our point across to the national party. This is out of hand. In 2004, I will provide 100% support for Bush; in practical terms, it is either Bush or Dean/Kerry/Hillary, etc. Bush is our guy for 2004. He's done a lot of things that I love, but also some things that are going to bite us in the rear long-term.

Somehow we need to have a stronger voice in the party for the next four years and for future elections regarding spending and govt growth. I don't know what the solution would be, but if there is one, it could come from this forum.
