For what good it will do, I just called the White House switchboard (202-456-1111) and conveyed my extreme outrage at Bush for not vetoing CFR when he had the chance.
I hope you all will do the same.
BTW, the operator told me "you are not alone."
Let's shut down the WH switchboard with howls of protest.
If I wasn't still even more terrified of the Democrats than I am of the Republicans (albeit barely at this point), I would never support Bush in '04 after this.
Unfortunately, Bush is as big a traitor as Dean and he will not be getting my support. Of course, I recognized him as a socialist as soon as he slapped conservatives in the face by saying he was a "compassionate" conservative, implying that the rest of us were neanderthals.
He's got to go. No other solution is adequate.
Regards.
P.S. Read this article I've posted showing what a traitor Bush is. It's from Human Events - an old trustworthy conservative magazine. "Stalwarts Fought Drug Bill 'Til Dawn". Maybe someone can post a link to it for me. It is unbelievably disgusting how Bush told conservatives "if they didn't change their votes the President would IMMEDIATELY INSTRUCT THE HOUSE LEADERSHIP TO PASS THE DEMOCRATIC VERSION OF THE BILL -- WHICH WAS MUCH WORSE!"
Read that last sentence again and try and defend Busch. He disgusts me.
Again, BUSH SIGNED THE BILL -- and he deserves our contempt. No other response is sufficiently strong in my humble opinion. 'Nuff said.
Oh, but it does - at least according to many Bush supporters. Republican always good, Democrat always bad. Even if the Republican supports a socialist agenda. Even I with my limited intelligence have figured that out according to the Bush supporters.
Yes, and?
Quit pretending that the only alternative to Bush is Dean or Clinton. This is a time-honored, despicable debating trick and unworthy of serious debate.
The better question is "Who should we support now that Bush has shown his true colors again and again?"
And the reality is, Bush has behaved like a Ted Kennedy-liberal on CFR and the Medicare prescription entitlement.
He has demonstrated that 1) he doesn't want the votes of conservative Republicans such as myself, and 2) he doesn't need our votes. He has looked at the upcoming election and decided that passing a trillion dollar entitlement program and restricting free speech in connection with federal elections will win him more votes from the middle-left than he will lose from the right.
Well enough. He won't get our votes.
Bush deserves our contempt because he signed this bill and shouldn't have. All of the Bush suppporter tap-dancing can't change the fact that Bush failed to use his granted power of veto and broke his oath to defend the Constitution. Go ahead and read some of the lame excuses that Bush and his handlers came up with about how even though it was unconstitutional Bush signed it hoping that the liberal Supreme Court would overturn it. They'll make your stomach turn.
I'm tired of oath-breaking presidents. Bush makes 2 in a row. I'm also tired of all you gambling Busch supporters who keep telling us to "take our chances", or "gamble" on Bush.
I prefer not to gamble away my constitutional rights for a mess of potage, thank you very much!
Hello, Is anybody home? Ridge and Bush just proposed allowing millions of illegal aliens (potential terrorists) amnesty.
In case you've forgotten (or never knew because the establishment never tells you), no Iraqis crashed planes into our buildings. But illegal aliens did!
This president has lost all his senses and deserves our contempt.
We conservatives had that race won and then Bushheads and RINO's ran this woman-grabbin semi-porno star and rammed him down our throats with the same logic that keeps surrendering more of our freedoms.
Honor? What honor? GW could be the 10th liberal running. No way am I voting for him. He's ruining the whole darn country and has done more damage to the country in 3 years than even Bubba was able to do in 8. GW is a bad joke.
Richard W.
That is a ridiculous statement. Bush is much better for the country than Dean, especially in national security. Bush does need to change some of his policies though. I doubt he will. I wish we had another Republican sometimes. I don't see that until 2008 barring some catastrophe.
