Call the WHite HOuse to Thank Bush for CFR!!!

Posted on 12/10/2003 1:09:18 PM PST by Maceman

For what good it will do, I just called the White House switchboard (202-456-1111) and conveyed my extreme outrage at Bush for not vetoing CFR when he had the chance.

I hope you all will do the same.

BTW, the operator told me "you are not alone."

Let's shut down the WH switchboard with howls of protest.

If I wasn't still even more terrified of the Democrats than I am of the Republicans (albeit barely at this point), I would never support Bush in '04 after this.

I see no ultra conservative with a chance to win 2004.(emphasis on chance to win)

Bush is not my lord, he is just the best guy i have right now.

In fact he represents me very well in many areas. Even in light of his mistakes and the fact that he isnt more conservative than thou. As long as that is the case, and it surely will be come Nov, Republicans will get my vote, we will win again with or without those who demand an unrealistic perfection. We will keep chipping away at the Agenda one step at a time. I agree with much of what MY2Cents posted.

Indeed. Back in the 70s, Reagan was faced with a growing chorus of conservatives who believed the Republicans were no longer a viable vehicle for conservatism and wanted to form a third party. Reagan believed they should stay put because their best chance still lay with the GOP. He went on to prove just how potent a conservative message could be when he won two landslides. I believe we will have our chance again to move the Republicans back to the direction of limited government as Reagan did.

"If that's the case then why would they even challenge it? Do you think all those constitutional lawyers were just faking it for those 4 hours of arguments in front of the SCOTUS?"

Appreciate the comment. First of all who is "they"? A collection of conservative groups like NRA etc. I assume. And they would fight a bill that is unconstitutional even if they thought they would lose because the battle is worth fighting even if they lose.

Hmmm. Maybe GWB could learn a little from these guys. If he had fought this thing in the first place, he would have won is what is so damnable about this issue. And why Bush is, and always has been a liberal.

And as far as being a fool and Howard Dean like theories, please be specific. It is a fact that Bush's buddies are making a fortune in Iraq; It is a fact that there have been no WMD's found in Iraq; It is a fact that no major links between Iraq and 9/11 exist. It is also true that this law is an assault on free speech and that the very people who worked the hardest to get Bush in office (NRA and other conservative groups) were betrayed by Bush and are insulted by him and his handlers routinely.

Don't get me wrong - I'm a conservative and always will be. I'm no disrupter or crank. I just plain think Bush is a socialist and always has been and this law SIGNED BY PRESIDENT BUSH is a travesty that GWB could have stopped with a stroke of his pen and HE DIDN'T. So if even a "fool" like me knew that the liberal SCOTUS would not overrule this law (CFR), then either Bush and his handlers are idiots (and I don't think they are) or they also knew that this law would stand and for whatever reason, didn't veto it.

I don't pay attention to Dean and Kucinich and whatever other liberal says. If sometimes they say something right I figure it is just a temporary bout of insanity on their part. What I do pay attention to is the truth of the matter - to the best of my ability - and the truth of the matter is that we Americans lost big-time on this issue and Bush could have stopped it but didn't.

At least that's the way I see it. I may be wrong but I don't think so. Again, I appreciate your input, even if we seem to disagree. Regards.

I think it's fairly obvious now that Strategery does not work 100% of the time.

President Bush screwed up big time by betting on the Supreme Court to bail him out.

It's ok to make calculated gambles and risks on some things, but The Constitution of the United States is not one of them.

I just hope that this can be reversed somehow.

He voted against the Texas abortion parental notification law. That's fact.

If it's fact Prove it Jack. It should be easy and also prove he said it was unconstitutional....

Because the Bill had a severability clause in it, The next day after Bush signed CFR, Mitch McConnell filed the papers to challenge the parts of the Bill that GWB openly said he didn't like, it was a plan and a gamble, which they lost. I like the restrictions on Union dues being used to fund the DNC, I like the idea of soft money out of elections, I do not agree with the limit on individual free speech and neither did GWB. They took a gamble that they could get the portions of the bill they thought was unconstitutional overturned by the SCOTUS.

But this is not the final chapter on this, You can best believe that they working on reversing this law as we speak

Been waiting for Bush to alienate his base... so Hillary can run AND WIN... this is not it though, IMO, but its comin, I can feel it... Bill Clinton, Bush, Hillary... I'm on the cusp of believeing its all smoke and mirrors... a not so devine comedy.. am getting quite tired as a voter of being laughed at,, BY SOMEONE... because someone is laughing... Really, Bob Dole for president what a joke.. and son of "Mr. No new taxs" right after his fathers obsene (and well deserved) humiliation by the way and at the hands of a KNOWN TRAITOR... something tells me I'm not alone with this attitude.. But most are afraid of the famous "tin foil" epithet, I'm not. And am noteing the oh! so smart on this forum tripping over their optimism acting like it was on purpose.. cowards really... cause a revolution is bloody and probably will screw up the football schedule, could'nt have that.. Big mouthed know it alls

Could be I'm dumber than a rock, and prey to a good conspiracy theory... but I'm not quite that easy.. the greatest ally a good conspiracy could have is a plethora of psuedo conspiracys... LIKE NOW... as camoflage... hiding among them the mother of them all..

Stalin said, one murder is a tradedy, a million is just a statistic, and history had proven him right... same could be said of a conspiracy... and for the same reasons.. methinks someone has figured that out.. the "HANDLERS" whoever they are... getting of being handled, real tired, deadly tired..

If nothing else, this debacle will teach the Repubs never again to vote for a stinky bill, safe in the belief that the courts will strike it down.
