Something Interesting Alexa Showed Me Regarding Recent Trolling Activity

Hi everyone.

One of the things I have noticed lately is that, at least from where I sit, trolling activity has increased greatly recently. Many relatively new accounts, or older accounts with previously little or no activity, suddenly coming on and posting negative comments about President Reagan, saying they are lifelong Republicans but no more, and a bunch of other things that could be legitimately held beliefs on their part but when taken in aggregate make it clear that there is quite a bit of trolling action going on.

I found the following to be quite illuminating. Alexa.com is a website which tracks web usage for those who voluntarily use their software (a browser toolbar extension). They accumulate the data and compile it into useful reports, such as traffic reports. They also report on related topics-- "People who visit this page also visit".

So, what sites do "People who visit" Free Republic also visit?

• The Hollow Planet:

In addition to the privacy issues, I find all of this tracking somewhat irksome because it is putting a huge, unnecessary load on the internet. While I'm sure these cookies send information in a relatively small number of bytes, they are still creating more traffic. Those of us on dial-up don't need more traffic having to go through our lines.

For what it's worth, I visit some bird watching sites. If they turn up on some survey, it doesn't mean that I'm a leftist greenie. I enjoy the change of pace from talking politics.

But those were earlier days and with age and information, opinions change, thus I find myself here at freerepublic. Hell, I'll finally admit it, I voted for Clinton TWICE!!! But what broke my back was Clinton and the democrats taking foreign campaign money and giving the Chinese the nuclear jewels...That is treason in my book...I also didn;t like it that he cheated on his wife....(So why did I vote for him in the first place?, heck I forget now....)

RE your post #64 - ROTFLMAO....reminds me of some of the posters who came out of the woodwork right before Gov Bush's landslide victory in November 2002.
