Warrants: Limbaugh Was 'Doctor Shopping'

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (AP) - Investigators raided the offices of Rush Limbaugh's doctor Thursday, saying in search warrants that the conservative radio commentator engaged in illegal drug use and "doctor shopping" for prescription painkillers.

The warrants show investigators were looking for records including prescription disbursements, appointment schedules, receipts and a medical questionnaire.

"Mr. Limbaugh's actions violate the letter, and spirit" of the law that relates to "doctor shopping," stated one of warrants, signed by Asim Brown, a law enforcement agent assigned to the state attorney's office anti-money laundering task force. Doctor shopping refers to looking for a doctor willing to prescribe drugs illegally.

Limbaugh denied any wrongdoing to listeners on his radio show earlier Thursday and accused prosecutors in Palm Beach County of going on a "fishing expedition."

>It's against the law to go doc shopping to relieve a malady? I think the WOD just stabbed itself in the heart and is about to see a major revolt from seniors. This is going to get very interesting.

Funny how people are *finally* noticing the fact the the War on (NonWASP) Drugs is a rights-raping sham, now that it's St. Limbaugh's goat being gored. I guess the 1,500,000 mostly black, other "narcotics" offenders incarcerated so far just passed right under the radar!

Chong was a first time offender and neither his glasswork or pot is a narcotic. Rush's offences for actual Narcotics dwarf Chong's "Asscroft No-No's".

It's illegal in Florida to: (1)go to multiple doctors (2) get prescriptions for controlled substances from all of them and (3) not tell them that you're getting the same prescriptions from the others.

(Sputter, gasp, gulp) but, but, but...Rush is my Hero.

To make matters worse, Rush was observed going 2-3 mph below the speed limit to Avoid speeding tickets.

My God, the story gets worse! I am just stunned. I am on a controlled substance and I have never had to do that. I think I may be seeing my future huh?

If Rush did the crime, he should do the time.

Then so should every crack head in Hollywood, starting with Sorkin and Stone.

Pot isn't a narcotic?

Kendall Coffey, a former Federal Prosecutor from Miami,

Kendall Coffey is much more than a "former Federal Prosecutor". He is a Clintonista.

Having said that, I do not dismiss his legal analysis.

However, it is between Rush and his Doctor to decide what kind of medication he should use. Not any more. The Rush story is just a small part of a larger witchhunt against all doctors, especially those who specialize in pain treatments. Sending a doctor to prison is a big feather in a prosecutor's hat.

"I am not a dittohead and never have been one, so it's not like he lost a fan. But I am surprised that he let this situation go on for so long. It's a character issue, all the touchy-feely talk about the steel-jawed trap of addiction notwithstanding."

I don't know if I could have withstood the pain Rush underwent, nor its resulting consequences.

...yeah, the liberal D.A. ('RAT-Palm Beach) @ work, ignoring the "little people" getting cheated, robbed and murdered...while he's going after political foes...typical 'RAT work ethos.

If Lim. doesn't like the like the laws of the
state of Florida concerning doctor shopping, (when he gets out)
he should move his show to Jamaica.

"There are so many things that have been made illegal over the years. Probably we are a whole nation of criminals if they wanted to enforce each and every law on th books. And it's not going to get better."

Very well said. I often wonder why American born citizens are being made into criminals...we are being "criminalized"...while people who really do commit the MAJOR crime of entering this country ILLEGALLY, living in this country ILLEGALLY, prospering from benefits they have no right to ILLEGALLY, etc., etc., etc. ad naseum are written about in the media as though they are saints. I am looking forward to the day when the masses of righteous ones in this country turn upon their "masters."

BTW: Terrorist are using drugs to finance terrorism. Ashcroft is doing his job. The laws are made by Congress, so go tell them to legalize pot. Lobby the ones who can do what it is you want. If you can get enough of them to agree with you, bingo, you are "everfree!" That's how our constitution works isn't it?

Don't do the crime if ya can't do the time.

But of course someone as fabulously wealthy as Rush will never see a day behind bars in this country anyway.

He has broken the law with impunity in the past and gotten away with it, I see no reason why he won't do the same in the future.

I think you might be right. I am going to a pain specialist, and he has to have his patients sign contracts and he very carefully monitors us. There is a stigma against pain sufferers as evidenced on this thread by some, who consider anyone who has to have the meds a junkie! They also want to lump us into the same category as street junkies. Walk a mile in my shoes!

Actually, what this probably means is that the buying-drungs-from-his-maid angle didn't pay off so they're trying elsewhere.
