Bush’s ad: Can’t a President defend himself?
Union Leader ^ | 11/25/03

DEMOCRATS are outraged — outraged! — that Republicans are defending President Bush against critics who have attacked his direction of the War on Terror. After more than a year of pummeling the President’s handling of the war with every criticism they could think of, suddenly they are offended that he is mixing politics and foreign policy.

What has the Dems miffed is an ad that includes a clip of President Bush saying, “Our war against terror is a contest of will in which perseverance is power,” then displays upon the screen the sentence, “Some are now attacking the President for attacking the terrorists.”

Presidential candidate Wesley Clark complained that the ad “violate(s) the pledge the President made not to exploit 9/11 for political purposes.”

Oh, hogwash. Where were the Democrats when former Rep. Cynthia McKinney, D-Ga., accused President Bush of knowing that the 9/11 attacks were coming but letting them happen anyway? She lost her seat in Congress over her accusations, and now she claims she was ousted from office in a Republican conspiracy. Just last week she told an audience that the White House is developing some race-based bio-weapons they can use against minorities and political enemies.

Where were the Democrats when Gore Vidal, Noam Chomsky and other kooks accused the President of conspiracies similar to those alleged by McKinney?

Where were the Democrats when Sen. Ted Kennedy called the Iraq war a “fraud” and accused Bush of concocting the Iraq war plans in Texas purely for political gain?

We could go on, but you get the point.

The Bush ad didn’t even name names. It merely said “some” have criticized him for attacking the terrorists, and though that is not true of the more responsible of his critics, it certainly is true of some. If the Democrats want to clean up political rhetoric regarding the War on Terror, they ought to examine their own camp first.

As a matter of priority, the Democrats want to get rid of President Bush more than they want to get rid of international terrorism.

The non stop Bush bashing may be turning off voters to the dims. Their credibility is tanking more with each irrational ranting.

How did I miss this? Did she really say that?

LOL, imagine, a conspiracy from Republicans to defeat a DemocRAT in an election. I think this is the 1st time I actually agree with something she says.

Wonderful to see Republicans run an ad that makes the dems mad! I'm living for the day when we all stand up and shout " I'm CONSERVATIVE, and proud of it."

What is stopping you now?

This is the first time in my memory since 1959 or so that this is actually possible.

This past weekend, we attended a piano recital. The performers were all adults and the program was all classical. I know for sure that the hosts and ourselves were former liberals who have turned conservative. There may have been others. In the socializing afterwards, I was speaking to the hostess and we agreed we loved W and she mentioned that it had taken her 3 years to become a conservative. We caught a few glares from a notorious Green and my friend said, nervously:"Maybe we should keep our voices down." In her own home!!! I stood as tall as possible and smiled and said "I am proud of my President and of my country and I have nothing to apologize for." She relaxed and smiled and agreed. The Green was even friendly to my DH and myself as we left.

THEY poll in the 30th percentile. We poll in the 50th percentile. We control the WH and Congress and are making inroads on the schools and the media. THEY are afraid of US.

BTW, during the almost 30 years from 1972-2000, I personally experienced attempts at intimidation from progressives. It was all bluff. Not once were they able to make it impossible for us to earn a living or enjoy our lives and we are self-employed in a rural area. We found plenty of new friends and discovered what a minority the Left really are.

Stand tall.

And some--"JFK" for example--have criticized Bush for doing to little and for doing too much on the WOT. A few RNC ads playing clips of "some" trying to have it both ways would IMHO do wonders for the nation's political discourse.

The RNC will also have to consider advertising that Democrat memo on how to politicize the Senate Intelligence Committee in the most egregious way possible.
