[history]
The gays are marching in. The end is near. Sheer unadulterated evil and scary anal sex and superlative hair products and new blasts of fresh happy love are to be unleashed anew upon the country. Horror is nigh. Everyone into the bunker.

Hyperzealous, evangelical, white, borderline fanatical religious people who apparently don't see a lot of sunlight and never read books and believe everything their homophobic intolerant Bible-spouting evangelical pastor and maybe Ann Coulter say, even more particularly. Hey, Ms Morford, what color is the sky in your world?

Of course, at this point it seems completely useless to point out to the America's misguided homophobes that if you really want to follow the Bible that closely, why, we can easily justify, say, incarcerating unmarried single mothers. Or exterminating homeless people. Or burning pagans. Or imprisoning Buddhists or Rosicrucians and members of that weird cult Tom Cruise and John Travolta are into.
After all, the Bible has been used to justify slavery. And misogyny. And oppression. And racism. And genocide. And Pat Robertson. For centuries. And it still is.
Try reading 1 Timothy chapter 1 my friend here is part of it , but read it all and use a little understanding Christ will give it to you. They want to be teachers of the law, but they do not know what they are talking about or what they so confidently affirm.
8We know that the law is good if one uses it properly. 9We also know that law[1] is made not for the righteous but for lawbreakers and rebels, the ungodly and sinful, the unholy and irreligious; for those who kill their fathers or mothers, for murderers, 10for adulterers and perverts, for slave traders and liars and perjurers--and for whatever else is contrary to the sound doctrine 11that conforms to the glorious gospel of the blessed God, which he entrusted to me.

She's obviously encased in her liberal cubical and has no qualms about dissing the majority of Americans who simply KNOW that this is not just an "alternative lifestyle" but what God calls sin and so DISGUSTED God that HE wiped out Sodom and Gomorrah after they were past any hope of seeing the truth. Furthermore, I am not "cowering" as this simpleton journalist states, but am an active, Bible believing Christian who will fight for God's values all my life to keep people like her and others from destroying this good nation!

Ironic, isn't it? It's a global truism: The more passionately religious you are, the more hateful and small minded you becomeNo twink, it's not hate or fear, it's repulsion to a disgusting perversion.
This "guy" is consistent in all his writings at least. He really believes he is one of the enlightened, and everyone who opposes his views is stupid or a neanderthal.
But here is the good news: In the long term, this bilious national recoil does not matter. The writing is on the wall. The cracks are appearing all over the homophobic armor. The national whining, the fear, the hate, the resistance, are only a necessary and entirely predictable pothole, a typical reflex, a painful wart on the big toe of progress.
Wrong. It is far more systemic than you can grasp in the bath houses of Castro Street. Once again, phobia=fear and we are not afraid of you.
After all, huge and violent were the protests from angry, terrified citizens when blacks were first allowed into white schools. Enraged and horrified were many powerful white men when women were finally given the right to vote. Shocked and outraged were the orangutans when humans first began to walk upright.
Wrong. The "enlightened" of his ilk invariably attempt to equate their quest to have their perversion mainstreamed with races of people having equal rights. Blacks in particular do not support homosexuality as normal, yet are always compared to the queer "struggle" against discrimination.
This has never been about discrimination against homosexuals anyway. The push by perverts for marriage is all about being accepted by the majority and that simply will not ever happen.

I did not post that correctly I apologize, the last part is the part I should have posted by it's self and here it is again.

Darn right the bible forbids gay relationships. Reverence Leviticus, 20:13: If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood [shall be] upon them.
And don't commit adultery: Lev 20:10 And the man that committeth adultery with [another] man's wife, [even he] that committeth adultery with his neighbour's wife, the adulterer and the adulteress shall surely be put to death.
And don't have sex with your mom: Lev 20:11And the man that lieth with his father's wife hath uncovered his father's nakedness: both of them shall surely be put to death; their blood [shall be] upon them.
And don't have sex with your son's wife: Lev 20:12 And if a man lie with his daughter in law, both of them shall surely be put to death: they have wrought confusion; their blood [shall be] upon them.
I hate Morford, but he is right that the bible can be used to condemn just about anything. I personally am acquainted with two gay couples who have together for far, far longer than any of my hetero married friends. With that kind of devotion I think they have earned the right to be recognized by the government (inasmuch as the government is in the business of recognizing couples).
Using the bible to suggest a basis for legislation is just wrong.

I was thinking of replying to the article point by point, but I finally realized that Morford is too stupid to even reply to. The whole piece is so devoid of any sense of reality that there is no basis of conversation. How do you argue with someone who wants to open a bicycle shop for fish?
I will give her one point, though. Straight marriage as it is practiced today isn't much better than queer marriage. That isn't an argument in favor of queer marriage. It's an argument for straights to clean up their houses.
Queer marriage won't fix the problem, it is the ultimate expression of it.
Shalom.

yep, this cements my belief as a libertarian that the state has no business in the institution of marriage. Without the institution of marriage, this culture will not stand.
There may still be something occupying the borders of what we call America, but it will be no more America than Iran is Persia or Iraq is Babylon.

Morford is so bigoted it's almost unbelievable. He correlates hatred of gays (and gay marriage; but, to Morford, there's no difference) with
- being white
- being religious.
Imagine if a conservative were to make a comment about "Jews" or "blacks" in terms of how their race or religion "made" them react to a topical political issue! But Morford is a card-carrying leftist and openly gay, so he gets a pass?
First off, many conservatives aren't really all that put off by the notion of gay marriage, especially where it's decided upon by an individual state's population. Who am I to tell Vermonters what to do?
Second, those conservatives who ARE put off by gay marriage may include a few "haters," sure, but the overwhelming majority have deep-seated religious and/or moral reasons for opposing it. Until the Morfords of this world learn to speak respectfully to such people, they can never hope to convince anyone.
