Prayer Request for Former FReeper

I'd like to ask everyone on the Border Ping List to pray for my co-worker and former FReeper, Jackelope Breeder.

He and I work for the same company, different divisions. We do a clean-up in one of the canyons of the Huachucas once a month. He was out with the gang this Saturday, and started complaining about chest pains after the clean-up was done.

I don't know any more details after that, but he is now in the hospital and is pretty heavily sedated. He will go in for the triple bypass tomorrow (11/11/03), and expects to be released over the weekend if all goes well.

I'll keep y'all informed of his condition as I find out more.

Thanks for the update, good news. Heart surgery has come a long way thank God, and I am sure he will be okay after a few weeks of TLC.

Ok, before anything else, JB said I gotta tell y’all THANKS!

Now that that little detail is out of the way…I spoke with JB about an hour ago. He seems to be a little less cantankerous than before, but is indeed in good shape. Here’s what happened.

While moving a couple of rocks to block a turnout, he felt something pop or give in his left shoulder. He thought he’d pulled a muscle, and decided to have it looked at. While sitting at home, the elephant plopped down on the middle of his chest. He knew what was happening, so he popped a coupla aspirins as they went out the door…his daughter took him to the local ER. They did some tests (angiogram?) on his chest. The films showed 3 definite areas of blockage. He was medevac’d to Tucson and underwent a triple bypass Tuesday morning.

He was out of surgery around noon, and spent the next several hours coming out of the anesthesia. This morning, they got him up – or tried to – for exercise. When he stood up, some of his numbers fell pretty drastically, so they decided to hold off on the exercise for awhile.

I mentioned the pillow, and he said he’s been able to use it for every cough save one. A little one snuck up on him today and caught him by surprise. He said it felt like he’d been shot in the chest with a Bazooka!

As we said yesterday, his docs still think he’ll be able to come home Saturday or Sunday. He’ll be out of work for at least 2 weeks.

Finally…JB has had a chance to read everything you’ve said to him up until yesterday around noon. That’s why I opened the update with his thanks. He is truly touched by your care and concern. And I’d very much like to add my own thanks to each and every one of you. It means a lot to know he has friends like you.
