[history]
CBS will not broadcast a miniseries about the legacy of former President Ronald Reagan, conceding yesterday that the production "does not present a balanced portrayal of the Reagans."
But the project is still alive and kicking. In a deft scheduling maneuver, CBS will now air the "The Reagans" on cable channel Showtime, owned by Viacom, the parent company to both networks.

"This is what the Right Wing does when they are faced with a truth that is not 100 percent positive for their side they spread vicious lies and attacks and scream and yell until they get their way," Miss Streisand wrote. Classic transference.
Her husband, James Brolin, plays Mr. Reagan in the series.
Miss? Glass houses and all that.

Maybe we conservatives should make a movie of Bill and Hillary. We could have a contest for the name of the movie. Some suggestions could be: Raw Feel (Raw Deal) or I'm Gonna Suck You Sucker (I'm Gonna Get You Sucker) or Natural Born Idiots (Natural Born Killers). You get the picture.

We should continue to do everything possible to keep the heat on Viacom and Showtime...contact your cable operator and demand that they tell Showtime they will not be a part of running this disgusting programming, write letters to the editor of your local newspaper asking others to contact the local cable system, and call the local advertisers you see on your cable system and tell them you hope they will call and make sure they are not associated with this conspiracy to destroy the good name of a great President. It is still an outrage and it must be stopped.

are they going to agree to put a disclaimer in fron saying that "the reagans" is a FICTIONAL representation of the real reagans?
Has hallmark weighed in yet or are they still hiding behind the "we are just distributors" manure.

"The Republicans, who deify President Reagan, cannot stand the fact that some of the more unpleasant truths about his character and presidency might be depicted in the movie," wrote singer and Democratic activist Barbra Streisand in a public statement on her Web site yesterday. Why is Babbles so involved in this turn of events? According to her own accounts, she's not even remotely involved in the smear job. ...but her objections seem to indicate her investment is far greater than she is willing to admit.

Yeah, but even with Clinton, I wouldn't want someone making up lies about them or puting words in their mouth. Clinton was an a$$ but is a far better man than Al Sharpton or even Howard Dean.... so a movie portraying Clinton as an out right communist like Dean or a racist poverty pimping slut like Al wouldn't be fare either.

Why is THIS the "second coming" of New Media? Just because Drudge posted about it?
New Media's involvement in the 2002 elections - particularly spreading the outrage about the Wellstone memori-rally is far more important than stomping on some silly TV movie.

If you read "her" letter it appears as though someone else wrote it (referring to herself in the third person, proper use of grammar and correct spelling). Paying someone else to deliver one's political views is reaching a new depth of character deficiency.
I'd post the letter here but don't want her suing me like the guy who was taking coastal photos from an airplane.
9 million dollars for a made-for-TV movie? Anyone other than Lumpy Reifenstahl could make two good independent films for that much. CBS has been cought wasting money and hope to recoup from the sleaze channel and curious people renting it on video.
