(That updates constantly, if it begins to approach where you live, you have a chance of seeing it....of course, East Coast of the US will be clouded out ALL night.)

Problem is I haven't seen the Interplanetary Magnetic Field go South..it's pointing N. It's impossible to predict with CMEs..to get a strong Auroral display well south, it has to turn South so it aligns with the Earth's magnetic field.

It wouldn't form an aurora visible in Colorado INSTANTLY; could take hours to ramp up. Auroras aren't instantaneous.

Impact doesn't mean immediately look outside, if you see nothing, give up and go to bed :-)

The Magnetic field is beginning to dip more south, it's almost neutral.

Unfortunately the Solar-Terrestrial Dispatch site couldn't handle the traffic today, but one of their people just posted on their Yahoo Group that the European Magnetometer network has basically just been pegged, making this an S5 Geomagnetic storm, only the second one of this solar cycle.

Based on the aurora maps you shouldn't be close to being able to see any aurora yet.....

What is the blue region on the map? Maybe what I'm seeing is the diffusion of vehicle headlights.
